2 Clifford
1 Mann

Saifiti, Frizell and Dom Young unlucky for mine.

Will have to think about my 321 but having read the game day thread I thought it should be said.

Yed Fitzgibbon made some handling errors on tough balls, but watching at the ground he really was good today. He made those errors on breaks or half breaks which tells you something. He was running lines which put the defence in two minds and I think opened up space for the guys outside him.

Obviously you want him to be converting those half chances next time but he was the best second-rower on ground today IMO.

To be fair, he was more positively involved today. However, his mistakes and screw ups are costing us points. He deceived to have a good game but ultimately he was average as it gets.

I thought Frizell was our best second rower - plenty of tough runs, tackles and involved in our last try, even if he didn't have the flashy linebreaks.

I will admit Fitzy ran his lines with purpose today and his body language overall was much improved, but his half breaks ultimately led to nothing except turnovers. He also had costly penalties which let the Roosters off the hook and led to points before halftime.

If a second-rower is making half breaks (and full breaks) I think it’s good for the team.

I guess I should just say, the game day thread you would have thought he had a shocker. He made mistakes but I thought they were part of positive footy which is where we are trying to go. At the moment I’m willing to give the benefit of the doubt that it was just one of those days when it came to icing the final touch.

This isn’t a Friz vs Fitz thing but I think Fitz plays at a higher speed in attack, and I think the Roosters would have agreed today.

So I gather Fitz is our new, bag him, Drop him, get rid of him.
I think personally he is lucky to be in 13, ok in 17, depending on injuries but today he played very well, you don’t drop the ball unless you put yourself in the position to receive it, he did often, some of the passes weren’t great but better players may have caught them.
His biggest downfall was when he made the break and just needed to link up but got tackled, try bombed but he was there giving us a chance.
Havent got stats but his tackles were strong don’t remember bad misses, showed determination to overcome injury on resumption of second half.
Bottom line “he put in the effort” that’s all we can ask

Harsh in my opinion

The break and offload he made that Best dropped was near perfect, was all Bests mistake. Sure Fitz made a few errors but he looked dangerous nearly all game and his defence was great. I'm happy for him to keep his spot as long as he smooths out his game each week. More diamonds and less rocks as the season goes on

Definitely not trying to sound harsh, I have stated in the other thread I thought he played with plenty of purpose today and didn't have that negative body language he usually shows, so it was his best game in a while.

And for sure you may be able to put those buggered half-chances down to round 1. Key now is for him to back it up again (like all the players) and add that polish at the end of things.

I know I'm biased but the ball was too hard. He needed softer hands there to just loft the ball up for Best to hit it at speed. Looked like Fitzy threw it to falcon Best.

agree with this. IMO he's a below average player that played a average backrowers game today and I'd expect every week, at a minimum, of our starting backrower.
