I think its crazy. The guy has played one first grade match at centre and they are going to throw him into a test match against the world's best players.
Yes he has ability no doubt, but jesus remember Hunt last year and he was playing regular first grade and was poleaxed.
It would be crazy to ask Inu to play fullback at that level. There has got to be somebody else in the world of NRL and ESL more qualified to play fullback for NZ. One first grade game against a terrible canberra side is not good enough. That NZ A game, I heard he went well, but he and 1 or 2 others were rookies, the rest were NRL/ESL players. The aussie team had about 5 stars and the rest were u/20s.
Luke Covell, Shaun Kenny-Dowell, Fraser Anderson, Tame Tupoa, Sia Soliolo, Paul Whatuera, George Carmont, Manu Vatavai, Jake Webster from the NRL would be better bet, 5 of those 9 must be ahead of Inu. Then add Motu Tony, Vanikolo. Lolesi, Vaealiki, Fa'afili, Toopi, Barnett, Talau, Meli from the ESL.
Thats 18 players with good first grade experience, all bar one started for their clubs on the weekend. And they think Inu is a better option at fullback.
I'm sorry but I would be really worried about his confidence being destroyed in this game, because you have to say the odds are not great about him starring. And if he is picked he will be bombarded from every angle.
It would be like Australia picking blake green at 5/8th. Don't laugh, Australia's 5/8th stocks are not great after lockyer, the likes of wallace, finch, hilder, williams, geyer, holdsworth, burns, witt, abraham, seymour, carney and anasta were the options picked in first grade. But it is pretty much the same with nz selectors going nup none of the guys stands out lets pick a guy who goes well in lower grades and went well in his first a grade game against the wooden spoon favs. The only difference is green actually plays 5/8th, Inu is a centre.
Sorry its a crazy call, and the faith that some people have is not justified by anything remotely significant.
If he does get picked, good luck to him and I hope he does well, but I just hope it doesn't ruin him.
