You can't go longer than three years for him. He has proven he has excellent utility value and did a good job on the wing last year. But really he isn't a 'proven' first grader. Some will blame Mary/the club for that but reality is if he as good as some on here make him out to be one of the other 15clubs would be lining him up or would've already signed him.

Just maybe the 'professionals' know more than us.

In saying that I really hope the club can keep him as he has a lot to offer to the squad.
what's a proven first grader?

Exactly, wouldve thought playing 1st grade means youre proven....not Provan.

Where I was coming from was that he isn't established in one particular position.

He has proven he can handle first grade, especially with his utility value but at FG he doesn't have a 'set' position as such which can lower your value when signing a contract, despite having huge utility value I don't think utilities generally get longer or higher $$ contracts.

It would be great news if we could sign him for two or three years ...... it's just a shame when we finally start to gain some long long long awaited momentum we loose Duges and Packer .....

Now is Mann's big test IMO.
With Hunt coming in 2018 we do need a backup half and TBH i think Hutch will move on.
Mann's value to the team would then not be undetestimated or undervalued as his resume would be any backline position from 1-7.
This type of player doesnt come along too often and it does add a more settling look to the team wether he plays in the starting squad or from #17. Otherwise its a bit of a free-for-all to find replacements to fill for injuries hence we use Nighty - fullback, Milne- centre/wing and KFFL- wing or even Field - half/5/8.
The big if is that if Mann accepts he is a utility it would not block a career path for younger guys.

Disagree, many utility players killed it, but thats not his fault he is multitalented, coach decided where he will play.

Many utility players killed it on the field and they are invaluable to the team. However the reality is they don't seem to get as many long term deals or higher $$ contracts until they have a 'preferred' position.

It's not his fault he is multi-talented but it could be his biggest problem when it comes to contracts

I hear we want Mann and Mann wants to stay. Just wish things would be finalised. Our negotiations are always epic.
This rings a bell!
We wanted Dugan and Dugan wanted to stay.
We wanted Packer and Packer wanted to stay.
We want Mann and Mann wants to stay. Oh wait .............. will he sign with Penrith?

No way in hell the club should offer anymore then a 2 or 3 year deal.

He is a good utility and thats it.

I am not even sure what position he will play next year a move to 1 is on the cards.
I see your being negative again coast Kurt Mann is only 24 so if he's good enough to be signed for 2 or 3 years even 4 years he's 28 only certainly worth while keeping.in my humble opinion

I never once said the club shouldn't keep him maybe you have trouble reading.

It has nothing to do with age its about where he fits in the system and as a utlity that can cover several positions but never really excel at any of them.

A 2 year deal with an option for a 3rd is certainly a fair option for both parties but he may find it difficult to get a run in first grade next year on a continual basis.

I would offer a 4 year contract, and the fullback role.
