The Cranbrook 15's are damn good this season. They put 50 on my school this year, but our 15's are so useless we couldn't even beat a division 2 ISA school.

Mal what school is this? what was the isa div 2 school you are refering to?

Our 15a team played central coast 15's and drew 0-0. f**king funny considering everyone else bar the firsts, walloped every other grade by about 30+.

i saw the game v Riverview on Saturday after all the raps from the scots game (i also heard raps from the trial games too) and yeah he was pretty damn good. Every time he got the ball he was a real danger to the view defence. He's got an unbelievable sidestep and is great in defence. He is that dangerous that riverview had to resort to illegally taking him out when the refs back was turned . Next year with a bit more bulk he'll be able to bust through gaps a bit easier, but he is able to beat defence as it is anyway coz i don't think i've seen anyone that fleet of foot.

And someone mentioned that he might have an attitude? well i've never personally spoken to him but fromall accounts he is an extremely down to earth kid prom Penrith.

Great to see Joeys give it to them :D sure to take out the title now!!!

You should have seen him against Waverley, he made our 1s look like an u/10 side......

i heard about that game... apparantly it was one of the 'closer' trial matches. Do you remember the score? something like 45-18. Was it played at Queens Park?

Who are the CAS threats this year?

Yep Queens Park 1 and they beat our socks off, that score sounds about right.

If history is anything to go by, the CAS title will be a Waverley/Knox showdown. Barker is usually third, then Trinity, Alloes, and the Cranbrook the usual cellar dwellers.

my old school used to, and still does. win the state schools knockout tournaments on a regular basis. i think it was the yeates shield for the opens, and the wiburd shield for yr 10 and under, or u16 or somethin.

but then we joined the waratah shield, which involves all the schools i think. entering our open 1sts, and the 2nds played yeates.
my yr 12 was the first time they did this, we got trounced by st edmunds or something from the act. it was cool to play that kind of team, with a fully australian backline or something apparently.

but yeah, way off the point i think. i watched the gps final, and for a yr 10 student, this kid was good!

oh yeah, my school was Farrer, from tamworth nsw. dont know if that rings anyones bells. doesnt really matter i guess! 8)

It just goes to show how much stronger a competition the GPS is ;-)

*cough*BULLSHIT*cough*

I remember when I was in about year 9 and we had Morgan Turinui and Adam Freier in our 1sts......I went to Hunters Hill and EVERY Waverley side got hammered by Joeys.....Exept for the 16 B's and, more importantly, the 2nds and the 1sts.

Turinui was awesome, he scored 2 80 metre tries and cut Joeys to pieces in general play. We won by 25 odd points.

The odd thing about this season was even though we trounced Joeys, Riverview and Kings in the trials, we lost the CAS to Knox, due to a missed penalty goal....

Anyway, my point is, CAS rules :D.

when was this timbo? i don't remember losing a trial match except for this one year vs Knox (1997) where they beat our 1's by 2 points after being awarded a penalty try. They streamed onto the field as if they had just taken out the CAS title and then some.

(and of course up until a couple of years ago the GPS athletics carnival was at the end of term 2, so the 1's backline never played the trial games whilst they were training for atho's.)

Barker in the trials have drawn with shore, blew a lead against Newington, got beaten 25-16 by kings, and lost 24-7 to Riverview.

The CAS will be between Barker and Waverley at barker in the final week of competition

Hmmm I THINK it was 99. I'm not sure though cos Turunui was in the 1sts for about 4 years so it's hard to remember when this was.

Turuni last played for waverley on 2000, my mate had to mark him, but he got three tries against him! However Waverley still beat barker 21-18, we didnt win too many games that day!

Waverley beat Knox 39 - 38. Awesome game, would have been good to televise, very exciting. Oh well.

Kurtley made the GPS 1sts. Foley made CAS 1sts.

It will be a good ole fashioned Waverley vs Barker finish this year for CAS.

Does anyone know if Beale's on one of those "academic scholarships" that GPS has made famous? I remember a few years ago Kings gave out a bundle of these to guys that were in their 20's.
He's been at Joeys since year 7.

mate u ahve to play kings yet.
although we lost to shore, we had many decisions that went against us
e.g. a try where our hooker grounded teh ball in our in goals and the ref said he didnt therefore shore jumped on teh ball to score.
kings scored with 30 sec to go and the ref said he knocked it on over the line.

it was bullshit.

but u know joeys and kings always rise to teh challange and put on a great display.
kings still going for the title to they wont lose anotehr game from here on in.
