If we lose Liddle just to keep Kyle in the 17 we are absolutely fkd. Cant believe people think just because he tries hard and can tackle means he deserves a spot in our team. I could go to local a grade and find players that try hard and tackle hard, he has played plenty of first grade and has not got better, he is worse. Said I wouldn't bag the coach if we won but doesn't anyone else understand the blatant nepotism that is at play here? Flanno is to hard headed and will always think his son will come good but he hasn't and he won't. Would love a poll on who would we prefer in the 9/14 role out of Liddle and Kyle because we sure as hell don't need him in the halves next year.

The coach definitely is too hard headed, he realised when coming here this would be the last chance for him and his son. His son already pushed out Sullivan and now seemingly will do the same to Liddle.

What other things has the coach been hard headed on?

- Going scorched earth on Hunt/Illias and blaming them for losses that were the result of poorly coached sides.

- Not being open minded enough to listen to players about where they wanted to play/what their best position is. Ie Lomax, Liddle, Couchmans

- Losing notable signings for not wanting to up our offer but at the same time wasting cap money on his son, Cook, Allen, Klemmer etc. Lose some of this dead wood and we might have actually had some decent front rowers.

You said you wouldn't bag the coach this week but I made no such promises 😂

That wasn't the only field goal Atkinson kicked. He also kicked one in golden point for their win over Newcastle last year, and in that game he scored a try, had 1 try assist, 3 goals and kicked for 379 metres. Such a dud. Then he led them to a 44-0 win over Gold Coast with Cam McInnes in the halves next to him, again notching 2 try assists and over 500 kicking metres. Terrible stuff. He's younger than both Hynes and Trindall so obviously less experienced, so I thank the Sharks for continuing to build his FG experience for us this year instead of putting the so-called dud in NSW Cup.

Folks, don't buy into the rubbish that the scum from the shire are selling in here. After almost 50 years they're still petty bitches with a chip on their shoulder. The Italian is a stallion

One of Atkinsons' first games was against the Broncos in Suncorp with no Hynes or Trindall. Brailey played halfback. Atko absolutely killed it. He will be a great player for the Dragons. Can't wait for him to join. It is a pity he is being wasted this season playing utility role. Sharks fans rate him highly and the Sharks did try to keep him.

Fogarty would have been a good pick up but we did not even look at him. Jake Clifford may also worth a shot. He has a good kicking game and can lead a side around. You have to have a player wearing the seven jumper that has both of those qualities. Lkt and Atkinson are good young 5/8 but are not half backs.
The halfback is the most important position in the field followed by front row. These are our two weakest positions.

It came about from the Sharks beating the Storm in Melbourne when he kicked the winning field goal.

Atko was there for Trindall, who was still serving his suspension.
Nicho went down in the warm up.
So we played with a supposed halves pairing of Atkinson and Brailey.

Anyone who paid attention to the match would know that all of the Sharks play came from Brailey at dummy half.
We played with no halves, and an extra forward.

Atkinson's stats from the night:
Line Breaks: 0
Line Break Assists: 0
Tries: 0
Try Assists: 0
Line Engaged Runs: 0
Runs: 12
Rum Metres: 59
Tackle Breaks: 2

But he kicked a field goal to put the Sharks in front that night, and a myth is born.

The numbers above are basically a blue print for the numbers he has churned out this year.

He's a dud, sorry.
Runs: 12
Rum Metres: 59
Tackle Breaks: 2

Not bad for 15 minutes off the bench then...

Hard to argue.
I posted similar in the Sharks forum last week. Fitz is doing him a great disservice as far as his development goes.

He’s more a fullback than a 6 though. He can do a job there, but ain’t gonna be the saviour you’re looking for.
We are week in the halves. Ramsey will play fullback in 2026 and so, we need at least on good player in the halves.

I'd so love to see Ramsey back in first grade

When you know what surgical procedures he's been through and his current food and fluid intake regime, its a bloody miracle he is alive , let alone playing such a physical sport at an elite level.

When I was a kid, I only had two sporting heroes - Changa and Billy

As an adult, I've realised that 'Hero' is overused but I'd be Lying if I didn't confess that Mick Doohan was a sporting Hero for me after nearly losing his leg then winning five world championships in a row

Cody Ramsey now is , along with Mick, a fair dinkum bloody hero to me!

Hero; a person who is admired for their courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities.

I'd like to saints go after Toby Sexton if bulldogs sign Galvin. Sexton and Atkinson in the halves together would be good

Would be awesome but

1. How many halves can we carry - KF,LKT, Illias, Atkinson & Sexton? = too many, so we have to shed someone

2. Sexton is definitely an emerging game manager but I doubt the dogs will release Sexton for Galvin because Galvin is not a game manager's fingernail

Are organising 7’s as important in today’s game?
I feel with the six agains added to the game maybe having two attacking halves could be the way to go in future.
I reckon game management is still important today

organising halves control the flow of the game, directing attacks, and making key decisions especially clutch plays at crucial moments.

Everything Hunt couldn't do!

I’ve lost count of how many games we’ve lost over the last 5 years because we haven’t had a half back who could organise and game manage. Just this season it’s been 3 games we’ve lost because we couldn’t manage the back end of games. Yes organising 7‘s are still important.

Exactly. A good organising half is vital! That's why the Roosters played Cronk in the GF with a broken scapula - they still needed his leadership around the park

So is that it with Illias , does he get another go , can he organise obviously Cook thinks so .......... I'd move Kyle to the bench if Coach won't drop him and give Ilias a go with King Tongia ........ Maybe he was a bit underdone a few games in lower grade may have been what he needed .........

Why does the rest of the team need so much 'organising'? What are they - a flock of sheep? Obviously, a really sharp half is great. But a switched-on team is what wins games.

It's also great for a half to have a good kicking game, but it's useless if the rest of the team are just a bunch of nackered Muppets most of the time.

An organiser in the halves is VITAL. The players that can change the momentum, slow the game down when in control, speed it up when required, kick a field goal to make the opposition have to score an extra score to win. Think Cleary in GF vs Broncs, he kicked up a few gears and won the game for them. Think Adam Reynolds vs us in 2018 in the semi final when he kicked 3 field goals. Think Ben Hornby cutting out Gasnier, twice, because he knew Roosters rookies Linnett and Leulia would be wanting to shut Gasnier down and tis allowed Nightingale to score twice untouched in 2010 GF. Think DCE in last year's semi vs the Dogs...... digs all over the Sea Eagles and force a drop out. Everybody thought DCE was going the short drop out.....NO, he went an 80 metre bouncing kick that ended up pinning the dogs on their in goal. Dogs lose the ball, sea eagles score, game changed, eagles win. Loads of examples ....... This was the biggest negative with Ben Hunt.....excellent footballer, but could never come up with the clutch play.
