I’m guilty of death riding him for his one dimensional play but it’s not helping when we don’t have one of our hookers being able to kick low and long much like a Harry Grant or Ben hunt. It’s all well and good to have some short bursts out from dummy half from Cooky and lids but if we could get them both to kick to set up a 40/20 then Gee wiz that would take the pressure of flan jr.

So if someone tries his guts out and performs quite well thats good enough to be picked every week?

Wow mediocrity is rampant at our once great club if people are happy with that
Mate… there’s no one better currently and all the trash talk just brings the club down… there are plans in place to address the situation… wyoure pro ably one of the ones who wants Flano sacked and replaced with who ?? Deano no doubt… people like you just like to criticise for the sake of it but have no better suggestions… makes you feel important in life.. hahaha

This thread is about Kyle, not Shane, im also not sure how Dean Young gets a mention either... how is that relevant to the fact Kyle is not 1st grade standard and would not be getting a run at any other nrl club apart from maybe the Knights who have brown on the way next year so thats a big maybe

I always laugh when people throw around the “accept mediocrity” line with footy clubs.
Do people accept mediocrity in other aspects of their life?
Do you live in a mediocre house? Have a mediocre job? Accept a mediocre fitness level and have a mediocre diet etc etc?
But god forbid we accept mediocrity with our football team!
Lol

Have we had as many halves combos as the Roosters last 6 seasons ?

The halves draw so much attention week in week out........ yet seem in the main to be on a ferris wheel between grades and clubs.......unless you in the top8 or so in the comp.......even then ??

2020, the main pairing post CCronk was Luke Keary and Flanno
2021/22 Keary and Sam Walker became the primary pairing.
2023, injuries to Keary and Walker saw other players like Drew Hutchison step in.
2024, Walker and Keary were again the main pairing, but Walker also missed time due to injury, with othrs filling in
2025, Sam Walker and Chad Townsend were set to be the starting halves, but Walker is sidelined due to an ACL injury..........significant change early season to Sandon Smith and Savala mainly featuring
Rodwell and Elliot not far behind and in the wings.

Which mediocre reserve grade half do you suggest replacing him with for the rest of 2025? You’ll still be getting mediocrity. Pick a different hill to die on. The forwards perhaps?

Congratulations on making a post without some passive aggressive comment in it, champion!

As usual this is just a plain dumb comparison and post by yourself and we're all dumber for having read it.

Any danger of you pissing off back to your JA forum or is it not as good as what you hoped?

The way things are going for us in the player market - it wouldn't surprise me if Chad Townsend became a desperation signing for us this coming off season.

Your 1st line is very succinct and exactly how we got where we are with Cake.

Even though Glover is now leaving I would still give him a crack in 1st grade as he has a very different skill set to K F.

Analysis of the problem of our halves is the only way to remedy the issues confronting us and potentially we might see if a change of halves would do anything to "unlock" our forwards as currently K F other than the turn the edge forward under pass and the odd double pump does very little to get early ball to Sua or Suli.

FMD even Sua has more ideas about chip kicking than K F.

Possum….Lay off Kyle… he tries his guts out and performs quite well… you’re just another one of the anti Flano shit stirrers with their own agenda
You know I was a big supporter of Flanno. It was only when he kept selecting Kyle after some poor performances and at the same time, dropped other players, that I finally felt I needed to change my view.

It seems to me that Flanno does not have a great relationship with player managers and is not an attractive option for many marquee players coming off contract.

Having said this, I believe Flanno could be a great coach if:
He selected all players on form.
Recruitment was performed by a more professional management team.
The assistant coaches were more talented.

I would prefer Flanno over Young by a mile.

Why go for players that have their best days behind them. We do not have a shortage of salary cap or places in the top 30 for 2026. And, we already have enough depth in the halves in Ilias, Atkinson, Reed, and possibly DCE.

Kyle would make a great 14 in 2026.

We need a good long kicking game. Problem is we dont have anyone for that. I’m not sure `glover has that as a strength either (and I watch some of the reserve grade games).

when possession and field possession go against us, the forwards aren’t good enough to wrestle it back from an opposition with momentum. Compare that to the sogs, same thing, but saved by the boot. We need to solve at least one of these issues, but you can’t do that this year
