My predictions for 2012:

Minor premiers: Tigers
Grand Final: Storm vs Knights
Premiers: Storm
Wooden spoon: Parramatta
Biggest improvers: Titans
St. George-Illawarra will NOT make the top 8

What I'm looking forward to:

Adam Blair getting square with Glenn Stewart (I'm on the Tigepies bandwagon come round 2, believe you me!).
Danny Buderus once again being Cameron Smith's doormat.

My selections were completely random, testing the theory that pulling names out of a hat will get you closer than actually sitting down and thinking about it.
1 - Storm
2 - Broncos
3 - Bulldogs
4 - Rabbitohs
5 - Eels
6 - Raiders
7 - Panthers
8 - Titans

9 - Knights
10 - Cowboys
11 - Sea Eagles
12 - Warriors
13 - Sharks
14 - Dragons
15 - Roosters
16 - Tigers
It's still early days but I think we can pretty safely cross a few teams out of my Top 8!

1. Manly - all the pieces are in place for them to be in contention again
2. Souths - with Supercoach 3.0 now running the show, the final piece of the puzzle is in place, Sandow is gone (who brought as many negatives as he did positives), Maguire will improve the things that need to be improved to make us top 4
3. Melbourne - this years failure will make them hungrier than ever, and Supercoach 2.0 will always have them as a contender
4. Wests - the second half of the season showed how good they can be
5. Newcastle - Supercoach 1.0 to take a mediocre teamto edge of the top 4
6. Warriors - can turn it on with the best of them but havent got what it takes to be consistent enough for the top 4
7. North Queensland - not quite top 4, but enough talent to stay in the 8.
8. Roosters - picking them as the big surgers

9. Brisbane - no Lockyer will see them just miss out
10. Canberra - I really don't think they're that good, full strength or not
11. Canterbury - their squad screams mediocrity to me
12. Parramatta - to me there is just very little talent here
13. St George - Departures will hurt bigtime, what's left isn't much good.
14. Penrith - Gould isn't a magician, another team that lacks the talent
15. Gold Coast - Cronulla's biggest competition for the spoon
16. Cronulla - losing their star props will hurt, Gallen can't do everything. Very little else around him.
Not bad. Those in bold are pretty close to the mark. Including picking 3 of the top 4.

Sure didn't see Cronulla and Canterbury having the years they were having. And obviously Wests and Newcastle were much worse than I picked.

Based on the last few years you would be best off putting the second place team near the spoon, putting three teams from the bottom 8 into the top 8 and three top 8 teams into the bottom of the ladder

Warriors near the spoon

Dogs, Souths, Canberra, cronulla into the 8

Knights, dragons, tigers, Warriors out of the 8

I think I done broked the system

Also how spot on was my comment on Souths. Word for word its on the mark. The vast majority of opinions in this thread were "theyll go backward without Sandow" "Reynolds is a nuffy" etc.

If you get your head out of your stink hole you will know that Maloney is going to the Roosters in 2013 not 2012 so that means he plays this year, so if anything he will play his heart out, now that he has his future sussed, it was done quite professionally look it up

Lost a good coach yes but if you do some research you will learn more about the replacement coach (IMO is NZ Greatest League) Brian McClenan AKA "Bluey" no disrepact to Ivan my hat comes off for all the outstanding work he has put in and we can expect in a few years the same with Penrith

The only problem I see here BV is your short sighted comments that lack substance, stating we will have a problem because of a 2013 signing is just plain rubbish

Lol

Can't see the Knights dropping any positions - we managed to finish 8th this year with an "average" squad and a fair share of injuries. Next year with Bennett and less nuffies I would expect us to be in the top 8 at the very least. I would guess 6th at this stage.

fail.

although I don't think it was an unreasonable estimate at the time, most people expected improvement.
