Following that atrocious defeat at the hands of Saint's yesterday it is needless to say that we need more help from expepienced campagners of NRL standard to bolster the side and help our youngsters along. :(
As is evident when player's like O'Neill and Sattler are not around.
Im not suggesting for a moment that had they played we would of won, but we miss em' badly as was the case at Kogarah.
But on a brighter note I am pleased to say that we will be signing 2 current NRL(FIRST GRADE) players from another club that will be playing in the WT colour's for us before the end of this year.
The suggestion is that Tim Sheen's will bend over backward's to get Ruben Wiki once he is allowed to speak to him after june 30.
And an outside back by the name of ?????????????
WATCH THIS SPACE! ;-)

Wiki will only go to England if he leaves Canberra and he can`t help us win a comp in any case. And if we are signing any outside backs they would wan`t to be very good or we don`t need then either.

Playing for us THIS season?

As far as I know, players have to complete their current contracts meaning the earliest they can join us is next year...

I wish I had a dollar for all the rumours about players we have been linked too...although it is good to see that Sheens is looking outside the club.

Hmmm interesting I could only think of Warriors players or Eels who would be leaving there current clubs to play for us :?

I just hope its Sione from the Warriors if we sign anyone ;-)

When I was speaking to Danny last week he said something about Wiki and they where very hopefully of signing him as we have been told we will be one of 3 other NRL clubs that he will hold talks with and he really dosn't want to go to England

Why does such news only fill me with dread?

No current First Grader moves mid season if they are any good at all. Even if the club in question don't want em they sure as hell don't want the opposition to have em. You would only possibly be after such players if you are totally desperate and running last. The Tigers should be looking for mid season homes for some of their players not providing them for other teams.

Wiki? OMG he is a fine player still, but for how much longer? Is Sheens going to buy a bunch of pensioners every year so that he doesn't have to give his juniors a go. Why do the words North Queensland keep ringing in my ears?

Couldn't agree more, although the Warriors where going to allow Ali to play where ever he chose so it could be another Warrior, sure they arn't playing well but there are a few good young forwards over there that do have a heap of potential

I agree and disagree on Wiki - I agree that there are some good young players coming off contract and will talk with other clubs however Wiki is better than what we currently do have in the backrow at the moment and I wouldn't complain if we signed him.

Trouble is it could be Wiki at the cost of a young junior, he would not come cheap even at his age.

Your Kidding.

Who cares how old they are . . . Ruben Wiki is a great talent in the NRL - and probably one of the best few Second Rowers. He would add strength, size, power, agression - which alot of our current team add.

If he is 18 or 38 , what does it matter? If he plays good footy then hes a good buy.

Yappy it fill's you with dread because you are the master of doom and gloom. ;-) You say that the club in question would not want there own player opposing them by trading them off mid-season,do you really think that with half the season gone Yappy that a club would care about opposing him in possibly 1 game?? And yes you say that one would have to be "totally desperate" signing someone now.
Well after yesterday's scoreline Yappy that might well be the case.
You keep referring to the juniors being given a go.
I think our junior's displayed what they are like without to many senior's around Yappy.
Besides you should be happy Yappy as that will mean there will be all the juniors playing for the Magpies. ;-)

Who are they Max? I seem to remember a post by you saying sheens didn't plan to sign anyone.
Pritchard is one that they were be talking too. Wiki is another(after june 30) and I cannot mention the outside back for certain reason's that will become more obvious should we happen to sign him.
Yes you are right I did mention at one stage that Sheen's was'nt intending on signing anyone as they were happy with the current crop, but I cannot help it if he changes his mind.
I only mention what I have been told.

What Juniors Max?

You must be talking about that fresh faced junior Mick Buettner, or perhaps it's the mature-looking for his age Nick Graham? Or was it the schoolboy superstar John Wilson at 5/8? None of these three should have played chief it's that simple. A top young player in Liam Fulton was dropped from the bench to make way for one of these crocks.

As you say, from a purely selfish point of view I'm delighted. If Sheens had selected Kerr and Fulton in his team there is no way known that the Maggies would have beaten the competiton leading Eels on Saturday. But I'm not that selfish. Both players aspire to the big time and both IMO are worthy of the chance to press their case ahead of the likes of Buettner and Wilson who have proven themselves to be less than superstars.

It wasn't inexperience that let the side down on Sunday. There was more than enough experience in the Tigers side. I'd be stunned if they didn't have far more combined first grade games than the Dragons. They'd have to be hundreds of games in front. Did you even watch the game Max? Harrison was barely on, Fulton played the night before, Gibbs didn't do much but he wasn't Robinson Crusoe in that regard. Halatau is a bit beyond the junior tag - he missed some tackles but ran it well. Heighno was like Gibbs. Four younger guys in a side boasting at a rough guess 10 players with 100+ first grade games each. Bit harsh to blame them.

No, lack of experience was nothing like the problem. Too many old legs and not enough enthusiasm might have had something to do with it, but mostly it was a lack of class, something some of the younger brigade have in spades.
