Leilua Gets a start!

Red... remember the dogs saw promise in klemmer and signed him to a 3 year 350k per year contract before he played a single first grade game.
They are known to throw big dollars at young guys if they see potential.
Lloyd perrett is on 280k a year and he is a flop.
Leilua would be offered 300-350k per year by a numner of clubs.
Williams wouldnt be offered more then 400k thanks to his inconsistencies... so the price wouldnt be very different.

150k, 250k, 350k ...arguments for and against to support any value. Jack Bird signed with the Sharks for a rumoured 200k a season so in comparison Leilua would get 150k at the same point of their career and potential shown... Other variables such as first grade opportunities also come into play...but anyway ..

What I'm most dissapointed about is the fact we are discussing his value at all. The club has once again acted way too slowly for my liking in getting a future star under contract , and allowing this to drag on to the point it's just begging for another club to poach him..
Any day of the week he would be a priority before the club should even be looking external at Williams, who is inconsistent at best over 2+ years.
They don't seemed to have learned anything from the Bird situation...

Lets be honest... if the club went through a rebuild stage like newcastle... our fans would scream blue murder...
Where the club f#@ked up is it needs to promote juniors and have experienced players at the same time, the problem lies in some of the experienced players!
Benji, rein, marketo etc are not the types of experienced players we need to guide these juniors to reach there potential.
Its a balancing act the club management keeps getting rong, hence the problems we keep having.

So we sign Leilua but not kepp him as a first stringer?
So if another club offers him a chance to be a regular first grader (aka Bird) then what?
To many fans everything is a no brainer, its never about the other 24 players, its always about one player only.
But the salary cap and team latout is about 25 players. Facts are fact. We can nit pick all we like to bag out management but the make up of a squad isnt as easy as one player only.
While sorting out Leilua we also have an issue with our 9 and our 7 moving forward.
That automatically makes more then just one player.
The same way we cant assure williams a start with the forwards we have... Leilua falls into that same category.
But at another club.... he might get a better chance.
Im not having a go, just stating with all that needs to be done id rather see management spend time now fixing our 7 and 9 and signing Leilua asap instead of focusing on spinning shit to keep angry fans at bay!!!
Yes, that's exactly what happens. You think Leilua would be a starting backrower at Canberra (over Soliola, Pappali or Whitehead) or at Dogs (over Jackson, Eastwood or that other young bloke they nabbed from Warriors). However, that's not to say he doesn't get the chance to be a regular first grade. Say he starts from the bench. Or he's first cab off the rank in the case of poor form.
And this discussion had nothing to do with our 7 and 9, and Leilua shouldn't come into that given that our current 7 and 9 will be moving on. The discussion was signing Williams at the expense of Leilua, which, IMO, is complete and utter madness.

Rugby League Week reported on 24/7/16 that the Dragons have made an offer to Josh Kerr to replace Mike Cooper. Kerr is 198cms
and looked great in the Storm's Under 20's.
He plays every position in the forward pack. I hope that this deal comes off and the Mann connection may help.
Just saw this is an official announcement.

I never once said williams over leilua is ok.. i personally would offer Leilua whatever we were willing to offer williams.
At most teams, Leilua would be gaurenteed a bench spot... without doubt.
We need to ensure he isnt placed behind marketo for example... cause if u think williams over leilua is madness... marketo over leilua in mental asylum stuff!!!
Mary needs to balls up and put leilua on the bench.
Its time to realise if the likes of marketo are keeping young guns out of the team because rein isnt upto it, then obviously reins gotta go.
Common sence but unfortunately common sence lacks alot of the time when it comes to dragons footy.
Leilua and Host should be on the bench... so should Simms... and so should mathews... he can offer cover for injuries to the backline.

Easts aren't stupid. They have dropped Hastings back to the 20s. They are going to attempt to win that comp. Dragons should do similar with Leilua. Leilua will handle first grade, he displayed that last week. Matt Head should be given credit for developing Leilua and the other up and comers in this team. He and his team should be given every opportunity to win the 20s.

If we lose this kid heads should roll.
Luciano is our best junior in years and we're going to let him go to a club like the Bulldogs. Seriously what are the Board doing? How long does it take to identify this kids talent.
What a f**king joke.

It was bound to happen, he should have been signed up long ago, surely thr NRL should bring in a rule to protect clubs from losing players after developing the player.

If he goes to bullgrubs there is explaining needed to how we lost him.

Dogs have signed him guys, sorry to say. But they have the cash. Look for foran to sign also for under 500k. Hoppa is on 125k there
You can not compete with money under table.Parra tried and now we are paying.
Dogs will win comp 2017

He's good but wouldn't go out on a limb and say he's the best junior the club as produced in years.

If he goes then thats his choice but what will really annoys me is they have given him a chance in first grade at the exspense of Host over the weekend.

Host played all over the Bears and was dropped for not particular reason and imo Host is just as good and has a bright future and he is staying.

I doubt the NRL would register a contract of 125k for Hoppa or 500k for Foran. Those values aren't even in the ballpark of what the players are worth on the open market and the NRL would question it for sure...
