Les Murray - expert on "Rugby League culture"

For football lovers like me, it's a very sad loss. He helped propel the popularity of the sport in this country.

That article that started this thread was in poor taste by Les though.

What... yeah I don't get that. All my mates like both, some NRL more some AFL more but there is no anti thing that u speak of.
To me it's the other way around, especially on here.

Anyway back on track.
Les was fantastic for soccer but he certainly didn't like NRL or AFL.

He has done wonderful things for soccer in this country. A very passionate man.
He will be missed. RIP.

Met Les a few times as part of the Hungarian community. he was a real nice genuine bloke. Also heard to story of his escape from Communist Hungary, pretty tough. A loss of a good bloke.

Les Murray was passionate about a sport he loved

I remember his work for SBS around NSL when I first emigrated to Australia and his later work on the A-League and International football with fondness

He will be sadly missed by football fans across the Country

Les was great for the sport that he loved. Him and Johnny Warren are up in the clouds calling games.

You have to remember, these guys were around when 'soccer' was called wogball etc and there was a big disdain for it.

Take diving and flopping out of the game and Aussies will love it even more.
