Northern Ireland? I thought that it was only England, Wales and Scotland. For GB that is. The UK though has Northern Ireland in it.nice source, I found this bit interesting

'Countries of the United Kingdom is a term that can be used to describe England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. These four countries together form the sovereign state of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, which is also described as a country.'nice source, I found this bit interesting
As Microsoft says, "Word".And anyone that refers to us as "Team Australia" deserves a good bitch slapping.

I understand the frustration but trying to pretend that Team GB somehow represents more than one nation is a weak argument.
They are made up more then one nation,
In rugby Union do Australia play Wales or Great Britain
Who does Wayne Rooney rep when he plays in the world cup...
Its just they feel being under the GB is better for then at the olympics.
Nah, thats got naff all to do with it.
As the inventors of football we were allowed to keep England, Wales etc. as seperate football teams. Which is the reason why until this olympics GB never played in the football as they are scared FIFA will stop that happening and make us play in World cups as GB.
GB is one country. Which may devolve into two if the Scots gain independance.
You know the rule : If you can't take it, don't give it.
Whilst this thread is clearly a troll it does show that Aussies really cannot take it.
You sure that's the reason ?
You play a lot of other sports as seperate countries as well ( cricket , rugby union , rugby league)
Is it really any surprise the GB have done well here? They are the host nation...I don't think too many host nations haven't done really well (there's been 1 or 2 think). Anything less than a great performance would see this dead empire fall into anarchy. When all is said and done, and the Games are over, I know where'd I'd prefer to live and I'll also put safe $$$ that Team GB will be back to its usual crap performances at Rio.
How can you say that Australia is doing ok on a capita basis, the Scots have contributed 6 gold medals to Team GB and they only have a population of 5 million.
My home county of Yorkshire has 5 gold medals from about 5 million also.
