It must be the tears in your eyes - I've acknowledged the Brisbane media's obsession with Brisbane. Apparently it's fine to claim that the only reason the Broncos get big crowds is because it's a one team town, but this same factor is no excuse for News Ltd wanting to sell newspapers to the same captive audience.

The difference is at least the rest of the country doesn't have to listen to RL commentary teams going apesh*t about a particularly weak team because one of its players has an occasional good game.

Poor old Parra just have no halves, rely way too much on the EGO. Better luck next year if Mortimer stands up otherwise you blokes may struggle again. Maybe Humble should be getting more of a run.

Funny thing is the latest bloke rumoured to be coming to us is Mark Riddell...

Maybe I'm biased, but in my honest opinion, we have outside backs that are good enough to finish off movements and score tries; a fullback who on his day is pretty good; a forward pack that is well-rounded. We lack a good 5/8, halfback and hooker. If we had even average players there we'd be going OK.

Although I do reckon Jeff Robson has been consistent and has played well. Far better than Mortimer.

Mortimer, should be better next season.. Humble has talent but is more of a fullback. Eels should have a crack at a real hooker because I reckon Mortimer will come good and Humble would be a very good ball running 6.

What irritates me is that everyone can see our major weaknesses - halves and hooker. But Anderson does nothing to fix it.

We have a young bloke playing for Wenrworthville by the name of Anthony Mitchell. I've seen a fair bit of him and he's exactly what we need - crips service from dummy-half and zippy out of dummy-half. Plus he has a good kicking game. And for a little bloke he defends well.

But Ando won't play him, even though we need a quality hooker.

Just on Mortimer - I want to ask non-Eels fans what they think of him. Do you guys reckon there is a good, NRL quality player deep down there somewhere? Or is he average?

From his glimpses so far I a prepared to say there is a potentially good player somehwere in there, but it seems it's just me...

To me it looks like he is scared to be involved or has been told to sit back and play second fiddle to Hayne. He needs to borrow some of Pearce's confidence. Basically he looks like a young, inexperienced half.
