Yeah, it's hard to get a gauge on Thomas and what he adds/doesn't add. He was great for the Kiwis at hooker and I think in the NRL, that's his best position. ESL, he'll probably carve up at 6. Won't be missed too much, and if he happens to get injured before the end of the season it's Ata's time.
He didn't "carve up" last time he was here when he was actually in his prime.

I think that Cappy sees Thomas as a calming influence for SJ.
This is the main reason I can't see the Lolo/SJ halves pairing working.

Me either, looking forward to next year assuming we get no new players in team lineups could be interesting ,we appear to have the personal but its where to slot them in. If I had thought of this 6-8 weeks ago I would have said sack the lot of them except for TL since he only has a year to go and build new team around him.

Agree totally. And I am sure Cappy won't be taking any chances. Which begs the question why is Hingano being named in the squad?

Probably because SJ has been running on one leg the last few weeks...

I'd be keen to give Hingano Roache's spot (who seems to be barely used anyway), and give him 20 mins off the bench for a game or two, benching TL or moving him to hooker. Then if all goes well start with Hingano in six and TL on the bench as cover. Hard to see it happening when we are having a run of good form, so maybe wait until the inevitable collapse starts...

Anyone who has watched Hingano knows the kid is an absolute gun who will no doubt be in the halves soon enough. It's just a matter of whether it is too early for him or not. Just a little time off the bench, come on, can't hurt!

Who else would people be keen to see the back of? (Apart from Gubb, which has been done to death in its very own thread).

After the last month or so there's not that many, is there? I can't think of one.

For me, probably Ben Henry and if we could swap for someone better, Jono Wright.

I'm not so sure that I'm saying I want to see the back of Gubb. I think I am questioning his contribution to the top side at the moment, and I'm confused that he seems to be an automatic selection- but I wouldn't go as far as to want him banished from the club.

I don't even really feel that way about Leuluai or Wright.

I just probably am confused about their roles and their selection at times.

Yeah, it's less "get rid of that guy" and more "that guy should have a different/lesser role".

Or in the case of (as Zero mentioned) Ben Henry, "that guy should have a lesser contract, until he can stay fit and earn his way into our backrow (unlikely on both counts)".

6-8 weeks ago I would have been easy with seeing the entire squad moved on, in recent weeks however they are a changed side. Lets just hope it lasts.

Not sure there's anyone that I'd want rid of...

I want Leuluai out of the 6 jumper, Gubb to be a reserve grader that fills in when there is a need (Wright the same)... Gavet was a bit of a waste of time imo, but fine in a broader squad. What I'd really like to see is the development and blooding of the likes of Hingano, Lane, Sipley, and others - with Newcastle this year there was the perfect opportunity to give Hingano a nice debut

Henry can play a role if he can stay injury free - not sure a run of bad luck is reason to abandon him - nobody would have signed Guttenbeil if that was the case

Of all the guys in the initial 2016 squad, Ben was the only player I could pick out. Definitely cos he's somewhat injury prone and because we now have good players in those positions he plays. I personally wouldn't pick him over Ayshford, Kata, Thompson or Hoffman if he was rehabilitated tomorrow but I can't speak for unpredictable Cappy. Heard somewhere Henry could be back this year..

I had quick look at his stats and he's had 50 something games in 4 seasons which isn't bad when compared to Guttenbiels first 4 seasons. Im not certain how the celery thing works when injured but let's say the minimum for an NRL player is $52k a year, it's a lot of money after 4 years and 50+ games!

He's not going anywhere anyway and I wouldn't abandon him if he couldn't get offered a contract anywhere else. Because of his injuries, Im not sure if any clubs will wont him so hopefully the clubs helping him out with a plan b career path that I've seen the Aussie clubs on the Footy Show do for their loyal players.

Benry is probably one of my fav Warriors, watched the guy since he started at juniors.. Injuries have killed his career.

I am over Jono Wright and his safety first approach to the game. I think TL should be our 14.
