Everyone misses tackles, especially when they have to tackle outside backs one-on-one. Was Ma'u's miss so bad? Or did it just look bad because it led to a try? When a player misses a tackle he has no control over what happens after it. So why should he be blamed for the result of a missed tackle? Ma'u should've had help from his inside defenders.

Straight forward tackle, that you would expect any first grade player to make.

The game turned as soon as Evans thought he was a half and did that stupid pass to Matagi who has terrible ball control.
Certainly felt that way at the time.
Also that blind side move by Moses to Hoffman who I could deadset beat in an arm wrestle tortured us.
That too
Norman is going to be my new scapegoat this year. He besides that try was shithouse. He is annoyingly inconsistent.
Yeah nah I thought he was good while our forwards were on top. One linebreak, one LBA, one TA and a try.
Mau I would have shown the door last year. Evans should be told to just run f**king hard and that's it. As always Brown was our best. Mannah and Alvaro are not only our best props but also our best defenders in the middle. Scott may be old but he still has something to offer. I thought French was solid but Gutherson should be our long-term fullback when fully fit. I thought Hayne was good. Probably should play him on the wing. At least he will get more ball.
I mostly agree. If we're going to face long periods without the ball we'd rather Gutherson and Hayne in the back three than French and Hoffman. Hopefully we can be smarter with the ball and not concede so much possession.

We weren't going to get rid of Ma'u while he was under contract, and anyway I'm sure he is still a solid player. It just wasn't his type of game.

We did nothing to help ourselves I also thought both with Moses on and him off the field we looked lost on the 5th tackle, our kicking was ordinary.

We never rode they're wave of momentum and swung it back in our favour which is something I thought we were working on in the off season. Once we got back to a full compliment of players we looked shot and couldn't even hold ball.

Our starting middle forwards laid a great platform but it fell to shit once they came off. Edwards has to come back next week for me.

Like I said though we gifted them a free pass back into the game they were down and out and a few minutes before half time we sleep on a ball to ground and that was the changer.

Then that dumb offload from Evans doesn't help either. Auva'a might run hard but he has a drop ball or a failure to take a bomb in him every game.

It's only early on no point slitting wrists but we really need to manage games better and we need to grind when it goes against us, we started on fire which was a good sign but our rotation was a concern.

We will get better. ( I hope, being a Parra fan it's hard not to worry)

STFU Pou.

We had enough ball to wrestle back momentum if we were good enough, and the reason we had to wrestle back momentum was because the Panthers bench way outperformed ours. Very simple.

You don't have to argue every single point. It doesn't make you sound intelligent, in fact it's quite the opposite.
The important thing is I feel like I'm intelligent. And if we had enough ball as you say, our middle forwards would've combined for more than 11 runs. QED

Ma'u missed that tackle one on one. Maybe he should have made it, but I'm more annoyed that he was the only merkin with the desire to chase the loose ball that far.
Yep no merkin at all covering him up on the inside which is what we apparently pride ourselves. We looked gassed after 30 mins, did the one trial hurt us???

I don't even mind the pass, honestly. Matagi was in a hole and that's part of what we brought Evans in for. So be it.

Matagi putting it down like a mouldy spud was a worry. It was perfectly catchable, although not a perfect ball.

But from there, the bench players looked utterly powerless to defend the Panthers charge or halt their momentum.

I don’t mind our forward throwing a pass but it was not the right time or place on the field . What worked for us in the first half was completing our sets.

Well they had no ball, and then their benchies came on, and suddenly we didn't have enough ball to compete. You're saying that's the only factor in the game and that the possession changed by itself (or through our errors alone). I'm saying their bench beating ours to a pulp is a huge factor in that possession rate.

RCG toughened them up and Kikau gave them a spark, and that helped them claw back momentum. Matagi, Scott and to a lesser extent Evans were blown away by the Panthers. You can't entirely blame possession for that
