Two Liverpool fans were stabbed and several others attacked as hardcord Napoli 'Ultra' fans hunted Reds fans ahead of tonight's Europa League game with Napoli.

Italian police confirmed that gangs of Napoli's hardcore Ultra fans had gone out hunting Liverpool supporters to attack in the city on Wednesday night.
Merseyside police said that a total of six fans were assaulted in clashes ahead of the match in Naples, with two men aged 27 and 52 taken to hospital with non-life-threatening stab wounds. Four members of a British family were also attacked, according to another report.
Three arrests were made after the attacks and police recovered an array of weapons and Ultra paraphernalia from the home of one.
Among the weapons seized were a baseball bat, several five-foot long aluminium bars with numerous strategically-placed screws protruding and a six-foot wooden plank.
"Ultras went out seeking English fans, absolutely," said Filippo Bonfiglio, head of DIGOS, the local department which deals with terrorism and political activity.
"There are groups of violent supporters here in Naples so we could hypothesise something like this would happen but it was impossible to prevent every attack everywhere."
One of the Liverpool fans was attacked in an incident where a gang of youths armed with knives and bats approached the English supporters.
English tourists mistaken for Liverpool fans were also accosted by locals at a restaurant with reports saying stones were thrown.
A spokesman for the British consulate in Naples said: "We have had reports of various incidents across the city and three people have been stabbed.
"Two Liverpool supporters suffered knife wounds and will be kept in hospital for a few days and probably miss the match.
"Another supporter was also stabbed but he discharged himself because he wanted to go to the match.
"Three other fans suffered minor injuries after being assaulted and we are working with police to keep an eye on things."
Italian police will be on high alert at Napoli's San Paolo stadium later. Youths damaged the goals and the pitch when breaking into the ground over the weekend.

No surprises here just another day taking your life in your own hands at a football match in Italy, Liverpool fans dressed as Napoli fans with Italian accents I take it?

Didn't they literally get their asses slashed?

Yes, two of them.

There have been a number of skirmishes reported through the night, according to Italian police and British consular staff, with the most serious seeing a 53-year-old man from Liverpool and a 27-year-old man from Blackpool suffer stab wounds to the buttocks and upper thighs.

...

The attack happened shortly after 4am when the family, from Bedfordshire, were followed from a bar in the Piazza Garibaldi in the city centre.
A group of between 20 and 30 men assaulted them as they walked back to their hotel. A variety of weapons - including a baseball bat, three four-foot aluminium bars and a five-foot long piece of wood - were recovered from one of the arrested men's home.

They should have known the risks though. Naples isn't the nicest place.

Thats alright then.

In the return leg if a group get ambushed at the albert docks and get the sh*t kicked out of them should they also of known the risks?

Or would there be widespread knashing of teeth at the hooligan nature of English fans?

I remember the heroic Roma fans. Ambushed a few United fans then they were scared to come to Manc so the nice people of Manchester went to find them when the final was over there. Yup you guessed it, the chicken sh*ts all hid.

Italians = Softc*cks of Euro football.

Naples is a dump. While this is another shocking incident in Italian football, I can't say I've got any sympathy for Liverpool fans itbt.

If I could take a moment to recount my visit to Naples. The previous evening in Rome I'd topped two bottles of wine. Not the best idea I've ever come up with. Having made my way down to Naples the following morning I was in a sickly state. I had to catch a ferry to Capri that afternoon. While waiting at the local ferry terminal I unloaded all the fluids I'd taken on board that morning next to the seat I was seated at. The travellers seated around me scattered except for Tony and Kelly. I'd thrown up a mixture of mineral water and orange flavoured gatorade. In retrospect, the gatorade was a big mistake.

Something clearly needs to be done about Italy, but UEFA are toothless when it comes to the big footballing countries (except England)

I never once said that made it okay.

Naples is a dump; everyone knows this. They shouldn't have been at a pub at 4am. It's common sense.

some poor results this morning in the europa league for the italian sides. no wins, which leaves just mighty sampdoria has the only side to win a game in the competition this season. elsewhere bayer leverkusen and stuttgart both lead their groups. dortmund are tracking 3rd.

dark times for the italians in europe.

Revenge attacks for Heysel
Majority of Italian ultras see the English as animals and attack them as such.

Thats cause Italian supporters are all dumb.

I got abuse in Turin over Heysal, it took them a while to get the point that it was Liverpool fans at Heysel an as a United fan i had more reason to hate them than they did.

Napoli has nothing to do with Heysel, they are just hooligans from a country whose teams need a good banning from Euro comps.

And yet Heysel saw English sides banned from European competition for five years, Liverpool for six, and was one of the catalysts for a massive crackdown on hooliganism in England (and the refurbishing of stadiums post-Hillsbrough also helped, odd how it takes a tragedy for real changes to occur). Which means you have to ask why they havent cleaned up the acts of Italian sides as well?

Oh, and Heysel being used as an excuse just shows that violent f**kwits never learn. Part of the reason for Heysel occuring was it was seen as 'revenge' after Liverpool fans were attacked before and after the European Cup final in Rome in 84.

We've had Dida struck with a flare, Anders Frisk hit with a missile, a police officier murdered from an explosive, racist fans, ultras and fascism, fans regularly getting violent in Rome from both sides and nothing is ever done.
