Lockyer accused of bar "tackle"

Why do you feel the need to put a  after your lame attempts at joke? Are you that insecure?

The story that you came up with sarcasm and irony has no relevance to this case. If lockyer was out blind drunk and decided to assault a bar manager, it is a serious thing when you consider the Broncos apparent "hard" stance against drinking and off-field activity.

You're an idiot.

I found it quite amusing...well done calixte.

The footage does not identify any player as it is not great CCTV.
Whoever it was, it was a grab and nothing hard at all. Could it be classified as assault, probably.

Fair dinkum!
The guys strolling casually with his hands behind his back ( some will actually see this as him being defenseless)

Lockyer or someone *tackles* him, and as soon as hes released, the hands go back behind his back, hardly the body language of someone feeling threatened or ''under attack''

Would anyone put it behind News Limited to offer money to people with Bronco's horror stories this week to compound the Broncos woes. Anything to give their business quasi partners the Storm a better chance

"Mr Degunten was working that night and says a number of players were loud, visibly drunk and were scaring other patrons.
He says one of the players took bottles of alcohol from the club onto the street and when he intervened, he was tackled by Broncos captain Darren Lockyer.
"As I started to speak, one of the players tackled me and I got quite scared and they were quite drunk - I think they could have easily hit me," Mr Degunten said."

How did these guys get the drinks to take them outside?

I might be mistaken but is it not the establishments responsability to refuse service to people that are as the manager says Visibly/Quite drunk!

Ialso saw nothing threatening in the little cuddle between himself and the man the manager can hardly recognise.

got to sell news papers I guess

I'm surprised the words Rugby League culture hasn't been slotted into the media reports

I am not a Broncos fan but I admire Lockyer as one of the best ever players. However, being in the company of drunken players helping themselves to bottled liquor and throwing money for payment does not fit his role model reputation. Even putting his hands on the publican is not acceptable.

Fans of the Broncos are trying to make light of this incident but I think their captain will regret he was involved.

I hear that Ben Hannant and PJ Marsh ate breakfast this morning. Expect that in The Daily Telegraph tomorrow.

Nah, you would need to mention they said grace before eating.....forcing their religious beliefs upon their team mates and speaking in tongues on the field....:sarcasm:

Lockyer is not the paragon of virtue that many people believe, regardless of the apparent triviality of this issue.

Hardly a crash tackle... but it doesn't deserve to just be shrugged off.

It was a fake tackle (no follow through) which to a drunk guy is just a bit of fun, but to the victim it could be very intimidating having someone do that... especially if he is part of a group of large blokes.

Although that footage doesn't actually prove who made the fake tackle... it could have been any random person.

If I was surrounded by 7 drunks and someone made an attempt to tackle me I certainly wouldnt laugh it off. Very intimidating situation.

But u have to wonder at the guys brains to follow 7 intoxicated people by himself into an alley anyway? WTF?

So...let me get this right.
The video footage show's no clear identification of the player that did this, the reports are ranging for a tackle, crash tackle, now to semi-tackle and this incident occurred almost two weeks ago...
Yeah....I hope his pub loses business, money hungry twat.

If he was involved. Lockyer has denied it was him in the footage.

Quite convenient for this story to air itself right in the middle of the alleged assault saga, rather than two weeks ago.
