I am not a Broncos fan but I admire Lockyer as one of the best ever players. However, being in the company of drunken players helping themselves to bottled liquor and throwing money for payment does not fit his role model reputation. Even putting his hands on the publican is not acceptable.
Fans of the Broncos are trying to make light of this incident but I think their captain will regret he was involved.
Is publican a euphemism for shifty prick? I'm always amused when I hear the term publican. It's like a formal title given to a role that involves the overseeing of selling booze to drunks, cleaning up vomit, breaking up fights and throwing people out of your pub. The credibility of pub owners is hardly up their with doctors. I'm amused by all the comments they've been making recently criticizing players for bad behavior. These are people that make their livelihood by helping people get drunk and probably housing quite a few drug deals.
