It sounds like the big fella is alrready much beter, he's back in ther gym and has started running again so it sounds like the nerve damage he was suffering from dialysis is repairing. He certainly sounds keen to make a comeback if at all possible and by the sound of it all is going well so far. Hopefully he continues to improve and we'll see him back in action at some point.

With out reading the article you supplied SpaceM. I heard that he was hoping to make the NZ Sevens side first which is a wise move. I also heard that they have pinned his new kidney so far back in the middle of his body he would have to run into a brick wall at full tilt to do any damage.

He didn't confirm that he was gunning for the Sevens (although it was mentioned) but the article said the same about where they put his kidney. Apparently it's buried so deep it hardly shows up on scans!

Luckily for him, Umaga is a Kiwi.

Although it's not a huge number, it is interesting that 3 young professional athletes have all just had kidney failure that has required transplants. Wondering whether there is a common thread that may have caused the problems. Would you think Anti-inflammatory use is probably the most likely culprit?or perhaps untreated urinary tract infections

A documentary on Italian soccer claimed a lot of ex-professional soccer players had motor neurone disease and claimed that some of the drugs or consequences of professional soccer may be to blame.

Remember polynesians are more gentically prone to diabetes and kidney complications than other races. That would probably account for Lomu and Vidiri.

NBA star Sean Elliot played another year after a kidney transplant, and Alonzo mourning is reportedly going to try a comeback this season after a transplant. I'm not sure how theyir medical conditions compare to Jonah's, but I hope Mourning and Lomu can play again safely.

i don't think Lomu should comeback. he's a legend in our eyes, but i feel that image could be tarnished if he returns. he's never going to play for the all blacks again, so why bother i ask?

I think if it gets the guy motivated to get off his ass then it has to be a good thing. I dont think anyone who has been following his story will expect him to be the Lomu of old but (he may surprise though) that doesnt mean we wouldnt love to see him running over some rather skinny white players again :)

I think the Sevens at least is a relistic target for him. He'd raise the profile of the event by a huge amount.

He was bloody good when he played for the Baa Baas once at 8.

Can't tackle? I would like to see you line up against him.
