pay whatever he wants, the guy will go ballistic if he returns to league after catching a cold for the last 3 years in rugby and souths can certainly use another back with his strikepower

Yeah, hes the goods.

We are the last league club vying for his services.

That suggests we have plenty of cash and good recruitment.

Two important ingredients towards success.

Geez he would sweet in Red and Green.

After his rabbitoh career, only Souths can give him a step up into Hollywood.

He said on the news that was not happy with the ARU for disclosing his reduced contract to the media before he had a chance to see it. This may tip his choice in our favour.

We don't need to pay half a million 4 a winger .We need a halfback.with players like sutton, asotasi (signed for 5 years, the best prop in the game)fa'alogo, champion, manuokafoa, merrit, geddes, widders & the rest. We can afford to wait.Don't forget where we came from.We haven't made dent in the comp since 89'.we can wait a year or two for a decent halfback to fill the gap.lets just be patient & sit back & enjoy the rise .

don't see the point on spending a significant amount of your cap on a winger when, as hop said, the bunnies need a half back and while some wont agree, i think sutton would be much better utilised if he played at lock rather than pivot.

settle down davy q ,lote is a great footballer, but everyones getting a bit carried away with this lote thing. when he left league he was a winger for the broncos, now all of a sudden he's become as valuable as brad fittler.as a souths fan, i'd love to have lote in the centres for souths ,but he has played the same game brasher did a few years ago (let his manager milk every football club in the world, until no one wanted him) but he is just a winger or a centre at best. lets just wait for a decent halfback.

why pay a fortune for an over-rated hasbeen half ???, we should just back eddie paea and beau champion to be the goods for 2008, if they dont establish themselves this year, one things for sure, joe w needs time in premier league (a long time to develop himself), we can play jeremy smith at half for the time being, until beau returns to form or eddie develops into the NRL.

everyone knows we will try for a half that is past their best football, and still offer a fortune for their services, in five years we will probably try and get braith anasta home for example.

We Need Sutton at half, our forward pack is good enough at it is, we have 3 or 4 quality lock forwards, why have another one, when sutton has the potential to go all the way in any position, he has the capabilities to hire an apprentice and carry him for a debut season.

lote isnt at the end of his career, offer him a 3 year contract, he will be 30 by then, when his contract expires, then he can go to ESL or Union to retire.

like i said, we need to back our junior talent to fill our halfs. signing braith anasta for 5 years wont help us(what souths would probably try to do, knowing them).

The way he played tonight a can of coke and a pie would be 5 times more than he is worth.5 red frogs would be a more like what we should offer him.And to think his signature is gonna cost us Fa'alago!

Well I think he's a tremendous player, I think he would compliment our backline. So do management I take it.

Theres also quite a bit of prestige value attached to such a marquee signing, there probably already is to be the last league side Lotte is considering.

Its a compliment to Hughes and our recruitment people.

The message is that Souths are cashed up and are looking for extreme talent.

Not some Rooster premier leaguer, not some over the hill star of 5 years ago.

Only the best will do these days.

As for halves, Ive heard of some very big names being approached.

In the meantime, vags, champion, eddie or smith.

You could pick up a mean premier leaguer for the price of a pie and a coke (at the game) these days.

I think for the benefit of Souths and the Game as a whole, Souths shouldn't sign Lote.

His handling of the Cronulla offer shows just how committed he's going to be for whatever team takes him on.

He's only in it for the money.

Souths don't need some money grabbing arsehole.

Save the cash and spend it on the juniors coming through, at least you know that they are committed and they really do want to wear the red and green.

Lote is an extreme talent.

He needs a home where he is respected and loved.

Of course we know that there is only one 'home' in the league.

Its called South Sydney.

You cant balme him for not wanting to play for Cronulla, playing outside Kimmorley is probably the only thing worse in either Rugby code than playing for the Waratahs.

Its up to $800 000 a year now.As good a buisnessman as P HaC is(he has done great things off the field for our club) it shows when it comes to building a side that can win premierships he knows sweet f*** all.

Where has Richo been in all this anyway? When PhaC and Rusty took over, wasnt the arrangement that Richo would still be looking after the on field issues, like recruitment and retention?
