Totally agree. It's no coincidence that the rumors of Arsenal wanting/close to signing a keeper have stopped.

He has the passion of Jens and the ability of Seaman all in one.

I'd be surprised if we didn't sign a CB before the end of the window tbh. The only question is who and for how much.

Looks like Mata is going nowhere now, the club hasn't got the right offer in the time period they specified so they have upped his fee to €60 million.

It's not looking as good as it was a few days ago, that's for sure.

However, Valencia loaning Canales, their well known dire financial state and Mata publicly acknowledging he wants to play Champions League football are all enough for me to remain slightly positive.

Barton as a free agent is another one that's being thrown around. Six months ago I would have vomited at the idea of Barton in an Arsenal jersey, now I'm not so opposed to it.

More stories linking Bendtner with a transfer - this time it's a 9m move to Stoke.

Yeah I dont think theres any chance the Mata deal is dead yet.

Apparently a 22mil bid for Nasri coming in the next few days from Man City. Huge money for a guy who seems determinded to leave and only 12 months left on his contract.

I think Citeh's MO is to stockpile players to make every other team in Europe weaker while these players rot on the bench or get loaned out to a championship teams.

They seem to have become the most hated team in Europe.

Where would Nasri even play? He isn't a winger, or a holding midfielder. Therefore would be alien to Citeh's 'system'.

I'm confident he'll stay, but seriously, City are just getting ridiculous. You need not look further than their strikers for amusement :

Aguero
Tevez
Dzeko
Balotelli
Adebawh*re
Bellamy
Santa Cruz

and to a lesser extend Nielmy or whatever his name is, and they typically only play with one striker!? Absolute madness.

*End of rant*

He's good, English and is next in line for the captaincy

Expect to pay a premium.

Eh Everton can keep him for anymore.

I've given Wenger the benefit of the doubt for the past 3 seasons, but i think this transfer window will be the end of him.

Hes going to lose Fabregas, Clichy and possibly Nasri (if not now, next season for sure) from a squad that was already not good enough to win any trophies and hasnt for the past 6 seasons.

Whos going to replace them? Mata? Maybe. But wheres the other 2-3 qulaity players going to come from? Ive had enough.

Exactly. He's not worth anything above 15m, and that's with the English 'inflation'. If the club wants to spend 15m on an EPL experienced defender, Samba is a much, much better option.

Future England captain? Please. He has less than five caps to his name. Hardly captain material. Wilshere will have more caps by the time his 21 than Jagielka ever will.

I don't think Fabregas will go. If Barcelona we're serious on signing him, they wouldn't have signed Sanchez. And wouldn't have left negotiations drag on a week before kick-off.

Despite having terrible luck with previous contract expiry dates (Flamini, Merida) I expect Nasri to stay. The absolute worst case scenario is that there are no further players signed in this, or the Summer window. Contradicting Arsene's statements about signings being a "notion of intent" for the club's ambitions, and Nasri will be a free agent for 2012/2013.

I'm more confident about the LB position now than I was after Clichy was sold. Both Gibbs and Traore have done well in the friendlies. It's whether they can successfully rotate across the length of a season that will be the real test. This season will be 'make or break' for Traore.

I was mildly confident of Mata's signing a week ago, sanity has now kicked in and I've now gone somewhat cold on the idea. If he signs, brilliant. If he doesn't' it's not the worst possible outcome. A CB is much, much more important. I think every Gooner, and everyone involved in football knows this. So surely Arsene does. Unfortunately it's neither up to Arsene, the club or the fans. We all know he (thankfully) wont pay overs for average players. Such as 20+m for Jagielka.

Although I still feel as if any substantial signings will occur in late August after the second champions league qualifier (23rd/24th). As this will have a substantial impact on the clubs attractiveness to potential targets, as well as the transfer kitty.

Well apparenlt City are only offering 10k a week more than Arsenal and Nasri is still refusing to sign a new deal. I think it shows theres more to it than just money and i dont have a good feeling with how it will end

I can't see him being sold.

I'd rather take a risk, see if he re-signs over the next 12 months, if not then good riddance.

Thats the thing, I dont think theres any risk. He wont be re-signing and I cant blame him.

May as well take the money for him now, the current squad wont be winning any silverware this season.

f**k if we get Jagielka for anything more than 15 mil i'll be beyond disappointed. Would rather go for Cahill for pretty much the same amount.

Happy with Koscielny and Vermalen as the two starting cb's next season though. if we were going to get anyone from Everton i'd prefer it was Baines or maaaaaaybe Rodwell for depth.

Ah yea completely forgot about him. Definite improvement on Song, unless Wenger tries to turn him into an attacking mid which it sounds like he is doing with Song.
