Decent ring to it tbh. Might need to tan up a bit but.

I have absolutely no issue with Egan being better than Katoa, nor people thinking he is. I just don't think they get judged equally. Can you imagine the uproar if Katoa went himself & was tackled last play on the opponents line with our back line set up for a play?

On the weekend, the first 20 we seemed to offer very little. Katoa came on, we tried more trick shots around the ruck & our attack improved considerably. Granted, Egan came back on & looked a different player from his first stint, had a very solid outing. Some people give Katoa a 4 & Egan a 7... GTFO.

I am 100% with Martie on this issue. There is not much between Egan and Katoa. Both are fair hookers however it seems that Katoa is the Number 1 scapegoat amongst frustrated Panther fans. Egan going to the line on the 5th was braindead, particularly since he was UPRIGHT in his attempt, who the hell does that? If Katoa did the same he would have been completely lambasted for it.

Katoa did look sharp and would have had a really nice try assist if Maloney could play the ball straight.

He was still lucky not to give away an 8-point try. But yes, he was good on Friday which may be due to him only playing a couple of 10-15 minute cameos.

My issue is when he goes spaz after 20 minutes due to, I think, poor fitness and attention span.

Re Egan being upright, yes it needs to be coached out of him. Hopefully the coach will have the discussion. Otherwise very difficult to fault Egan on Friday.

I wouldn’t know where to begin to give player ratings after today. Everyone tried hard but basically everyone was inept.

Aekins 5 - Meh. Show me something. Please
MWZ 5 - Stop baiting your stupid brother into stupid fights
DWZ 4 - Stop getting baited into stupid fights by nothing incidents involving your brother
Blake 5 - I don't know what happened. Just a pure plodder now. Wighton running him down that easily was embarrassing
Mansour 6 - Actually looked a bit better imo, but then Canberra never bothered bombing him for some reason
Maloney 5 - Both halves showed nothing. Fortunate that his usual stupidity in defense was only penalized once
Cleary 5 - Showed nothing. Some garbage passing to boot
Tamou 7 - One of very few who can be proud of his performance. Only question is why he can't goose step around multiple players to score a spectacular solo try every week
Egan 6 - Decent service. Tackled well. Looked dangerous at times. Not sure why Katoa is on the bench if he's playing 80.
Grant 5 - Ok when he was on. Still has plenty of heart. Would like to see him get more minutes. His carelessness in being offside for what would have been our 3rd try is emblematic of our team atm
Yeo 4 - Did little while he was on then got injured. Has been a shadow of his former self in 2019.
Kikau 6 - A special player who's getting nothing. Injury looked really bad. Fingers crossed.
JFH 5 - A few bone headed moments among plenty of tackles. Expect way better.

Katoa 5 - Provided some energy when he came on. Unlucky not to have a try. Great tackle in the play before CNK's try. I like him but no point in having him on the bench if Egan is going to play 80. He's not an impact back rower.
Martin 6 - Good energy and hits hard. Unlucky not to have a try. Hopefully not suspended for a pretty tame tackle.
Leota 5 - Dick fingers. Big frame and does very little with it. Over him.
RCG 5 - Appalling effort for Canberra's last try. Had a decent game otherwise.
