Luai

The Ivan comments have been overblown. Particularly if you know what kind of dude Luai is.
They will be used by others to leverage a early release. If that is his intention.

The club has to show who is boss. I am happy to pay him and see him sulking on the sideline while the side wins > an early release

Ivan spoke the truth.

Truth may hurt but it is facts
The truth is the Tigers are willing to pay him $6m to play the game he loves.

I know you love confusing subjective and objective ‘facts’, but Ivan’s views were his opinion. I love Ivan, but he f**ked up there; even if he felt that way he shouldn’t have said anything.

As for Luai’s response, seems a pretty mature response. He made it clear he didn’t agree and was willing to back himself, went on his business and has signed a legitimate contract elsewhere. It’ll take more than one day he doesn’t train and one dumb article (that has been lapped up by the usual suspects) until I believe there is something going on that needs to be fixed.

You also had to compete with Gus for Bud.

We had a FT squad of nuffies and plodders. It kept space to re-sign the kids as they came in needed a pay rise.

Dogs aren't improving for this reason and lets see how you guys go. Keeping the young guys
Mate we won Harold Matts in 2022 smashing the sharkies and out of that side we've just promoted young hooker Taylen Da Silva (who has already debuted and will take over from Api in a couple of years, big bopper prop Jordan Miller and Kit Laulilii into our top 30. Also young gun Lachlan Galvin has a big future with the club and is locked in for 3 years. There are others too.

Not really. Nathan has missed plenty of games across the last few years. I can't remember any games where he has actually done it.

I believe Ivan said he thinks he can do it but he has yet to do it.

Benji was the same. Currently Cody Walker is nearest. Look good in a strong side but can't organise

Where does Galvin play though?

Luai/Sullivan aren't retiring anytime soon

If you were going down that path.

Signing Sullivan and Fainu is another waste of cap
Interesting comment on Twitter:
“I probably came away from that series wishing I had played him a little bit more, to be honest because I thought in the last game he made a real impact”

Tonga coach Kristian Woolf declares Latu Fainu as Jarome Luai’s long-term Wests Tigers halves partner

Got to admit I don’t know much about either, but smarter people than me, do?

He is very good. Was eligible for SG Ball this year and played NSW Cup in a finals side.

Sezar is the perfect sort of signing when you are blooding kids, Not sure you can run with that plan with a 22 year old and Luai locked in for 5 years as the halves

Galvin if he is any good goes to Roosters should Keary go. As we are seeing with the Dogs. Particularly if Almonti is playing decent footy with us, Averillo at Dolphins another

No shot you keep Galvin, I’ve heard his management are already sniffing around.

You sign Luai, you lose Galvin for sure, he’s not wasting 4 or 5 years on his career.

I know Galvin is a half, but when he fills out he'll be a big ½. Some have labled him an Adam Douehi clone but I think he may be a ball playing lock but that would be a long way down the line.
As I said mate hindsight.
We've gone from a draught to a flood of halves but 6 months ago, with AD out and a misfiring Brooks and Wakeham the club had to take some dramatic action but then Luai comes along. Too late and actually I think its a preferred problem to have than having no halves.
Halfway thru next year when Luai possibly gets a rep gig and another half is injured then having depth will be good.
I better get off your forum, I'm sure your fellow supporters don't want this, come over to ours or pm me, I'm always open to be educated more.

Ivan shit talked a player chasing a new deal in public.

A player with a year to go under his management.

f**king terrible leadership.

I'd wager if anyone here had their boss do the same they'd be pretty pissed off
Luai was leaving either way. Ivan just tried to create doubt with other teams offers.

Honestly I would rather lose Luai and have that $800k available for others. The Samoan connection didnt help us keep anyone. Money talks. I dont blame the players for going where the money is. This is a job. Theyve enjoyed success. Now they can set themselves up for life after .

tge best part of that grand final is it proved Nathan doesnt need a big money halves partner. He will do more if the teams needs him to.

It's the off season. Any discussion is good discussion

The issue is kids aren't patient. Give them 6 months and they will be looking elsewhere. Particularly with the age of some halves.

If he was going to stay, He would of taken our offer when he had no manager to save paying fees.

I guess we see if money buys happiness with those guys

Exactly, it's a professional sport and loyalty can go so far before reality sets in.
Players average 10 years I've read. Some go onto longer careers and some careers are cut short by injuries.
Ideally you would want more one club players but the cap throws a spanner in the works.
I still think the NRL can help clubs further in this area. It's unfair that clubs develop players only to have them snatched from under their noses.
But if I was still playing it would be money first club second...sounds wrong, it's not what supporters want but as Woodsy says"it is what it is"
