I apologise. I do tend to go into Mum mode (on occassion). Can we start again ?

My question is Will Benji survive until 2025 if Luai decides to come ?

Also would Luai have a Benji clause in his contract. Because 12 months ago, it was Sheen's who would be leading the show, with Benji as his apprentice.

Also Benji (to my knowledge) has no coaching experience.
sure.

it's a fair question re: Benji. I would be lying if I said I had no concerns.

I have heard that the outcomes of this review will see the club go all in on Benji and he will be given the time and resources he needs to turn the ship around. given we went backwards under Maguire for 3 years before the club finally acted on it in 2022, I would be fairly confident that Marshall will be given well beyond 2025, and that's without any impending changes to our administration.

I would be highly doubtful that there would be a Marshall clause in the contract. I wouldn't be surprised if there's an option for the fourth year, but that's about the only clause I see happening. regarding Benji's lack of experience, it is a huge concern across the board. what I will say is that he is big on culture and man management, and all signs point to him being brilliant in that regard, most notably Api extending until the end of 2026. I can't really make a call on how he fares, but providing Morris is alongside him and we put a suitable Director of Football above him I do believe he does have the ability to succeed.

Fair enough. Who would be your choice for director of football ?

how arrogant could you possibly be. there's no trolling going on here whatsoever. JR is to do with my initials, not the fact that I'm a 'junior', so you can put that theory to bed.

I've worked in Rugby League media in the past and maintain connections and relationships with a few people in the game. my posts have been genuine, but obviously you're of the opinion that they haven't been, so possibly there is an issue with the way you have interpreted something, not the other way round. Iamback knows how his club ticks, I know how mine does. end of.
Hey buddy you are welcome to post here.we have a few from other teams Hindy being my favourite .All view are welcome since the tigers bulldogs panthers are nearly one now anyway

If Luai goes, I believe it will be because he wants to be the main man. The extra money will just be the cherry on top.

It must get wearing for any player to get constantly asked "how good is Cleary, what's it like having him in the team'. Nathan is a champion bloke, but even so, it would grate a bit. The fawning over him after the GF was sickening and direspectful to the players who sweated blood to support him. The awards night was the same. When I watched it I though "f%ck me, give it a rest". Its not Nathan's fault, but I wish they would shut up.

Moving on, I have none of the doubts others have about Luai's ability to lead the team on his own. He did it in the world cup with aplomb. Tell him 'this is your team' and he will be brilliant for WT.

It is extraordinary that Cogger has a few good games and suddenly Luai is average. Never mind he was playing with a dislocated shoulder injury in the highest level of club football. Never mind he played when the whips were cracking and the Broncos were still fresh. He is a warrior and the team will miss his energy, steel and spirit.

A big loss for us, but the salary cap is designed to destroy excellence. It is slowly dismantling the best team of the modern era and that is sad. Nobody is reaching up to join us, we are being pulled down, back to the chasing pack.
I'd like this twice if I could

Fainu isn’t on $500k. that’s Fox Sports dribble. anyway, there’s more than one way to skin a cat. if Luai does end up at WT, I think I speak for the majority in that it is a positive.
I hope he stays with us, he’s been one of my favourite players for a long time, but, paying more than 850 for him is a massive mistake on the part of the tigers.

He’s not that player and you won’t be able to pair him with anyone good enough.

I certainly wouldn’t see it as a positive for your club. I’d see it as yet another very over priced mistake.

We are well versed in overpriced mistakes mate.
It's a hard one . . . to work our way out of the shit we're in . . we need to vastly improve the quality of our roster. Shit clubs need a couple of quality signings to attract another few. Until the demographics of Sydney kissed you blokes, you went through the same thing.
Shit clubs have to pay overs. It's diametrically opposed to the situation at the Roosters.
Mind you, we still need to improve more than our roster, but one thing at a time.
I worry about JL's effectiveness with a rabble around him instead of your team. And if he comes to our shit show at all.
But if he does come, most WT fans would have to be positive about that.

I feel the same way.

The W/T administration has this wonderful ability to repeat the same mistakes over and over again.

Benji as coach without any either qualifications and experience. It's a disaster just waiting to happen.

Poor Luai could well end up being Brooks Mark11......with all the hate that goes with it.

I know somewhere along the track if Jarome leaves and fails......the faithful will attempt to blame Ivan.

I've seen it happen before.

Bro come on, if he leaves it’s for an extra 200k per or more no other reason.

I’m over the Jerome Luai saga already.

I just want it to end one way or the other.

Sick and tired of a lop sided system that punishes success.

There has to be a better way, we’ll there is, but not gonna happen sadly.
Well said, I'm sure that most of us feel exactly the same.

I don't think money will be enough. 200k is $106k after tax. $8,833 a month. Over four years it's a small flat in Penrith. It sounds a lot if you are on a low wage, but $850k a year is a good salary and the extra will not change his life style. He will lose winning bonuses for finals appearances and rep bonuses won't be coming at the Tigers.

Do you get more third party sponsorship in a winning side or as the main man in the wooden spooners? "Hi, I'm Jerome Luai and I can highly recommend this beer, Triple Wooden Spoon Pilsner. It tastes great and is extra strong. When you want to forget losing every week and numb the pain, drink Triple Wooden Spoon Pilsner, you know it makes sense".

Four years of losing for $8k a month. Your body getting smashed up in a side on the back foot. Commute to work, lifelong friends left behind. A political back office, a board in constant turmoil. A rookie coach. Where do I sign, it sounds awesome.

I hope that someone is brave enough to spell this out for Jarome.

He said himself after the gf he needs to decide between success(us) and looking after his family(money). He isn’t doing anything for his family by being the dominant playmaker at wests unless it comes with a lot more money. Break down the tax however you like but if their offer is 1.1m for four years that’s an extra mil then what we offered if our deal went 4 years. An extra 500k over the 2 that we offered. That’s significant to just about anyone bar the top 1 percent. The temptation of being the man isn’t getting him to the wooden spooners without a very significant pay rise.

concentrating on that gun Matts team to develop is the right way to improve the side. Who leaves or can't be re-signed to clear space is the question with this.

If De Silva develops, does adding Luai but losing Api improve the side?

That will dictate how bad the signing is

Luai brings a lot of that on himself, He wants to be the villian. People hate him and it affects commentary on such things

You don't think that difference will be made up in the 10 years post retirement from staying in a successful team?

I 100% agree you’re going to have to pay overs to get players, but you need to get the right players for your team.

If you pay Nathan Cleary prices for a player, you’re going to expect him to be the main man, that unfortunately isn’t JLs go.

1.1 million dollar halves need to be running the show, but you’ll have Ceasar running it and paying JL 1.1 to do what Jayden Sullivan can do.

I just can’t see him improving your team, certainly not at that price.
