I have to say i'm gutted that NSW u17 and u19 rep player Lucas Miller has been let out of his 2008 contract with the Knights to sign with the Storm.

He is the son of 'Barny' Miller who was a coaching offsider for Warren Ryan at several clubs including Newcastle where he coached the PL - and is the current Aus schoolboys coach.

Lucas is a 6'4" second row or prop who kicks goals and is a genuine playmaker in the forwards as well, often putting in very good tactical kicks, putting guys through gaps etc etc etc.

He is one of the top half dozen juniors i've seen at the Knights - more impressive than Cory Paterson last year.

see - that is why people are beginning to think your side is a waste of space.
Miller is the 21st junior rep player you have on the books - and you have bred zero of them.
Miller has been let out of a contract at the Knights because he needs the extra money the storm are offering to stay playing football (to support his family i think) - and you have to ask, if the storm have huge money for juniors, why arn't they spending a bit of it on Melbourne juniors. Miller was on 30k at the Knights and some of the extra you are giving him would support a hell of a lot of junior teams in melbourne.

Train some kids you bludgers.

I don't think we really need to bother with a response but 3/4 of our team has been developed and brought through the ranks of the storm ie Greg Inglis and Izzy!

Thanks for the info - but why the f**k do Knights fans like yourself get riled up so easily?

Firstly in the Newton thread, now in this.

kia ora's comment was made in fun, but you chose to make it personal.

Win some games you f**king dickwad before you have the gall to question other teams' right to be in the competition - and then f**k off our forum.

Thanks

As opposed to people beginning to think you're a waste of space? Or should that be the only difference is people already know you're a waste of space. Don't let the door hit your arse.

Not to mention all the no name rejects who we turn into starts like Kingy, Crossman, J.Smith and Cross (the irony that he is off to Newcastle next year, develop your own Newcastle you waste of space gits).

Any-team who just relys on home-based juniors gets left behind. What has Parra and Penriths hyped-juniors done for them over the years. NAFT

Its not 1992 any-more, if you sit on your hands and wait for the next star to come to you you get left behind.

Go get 'em Pete.

Here is a bit of memorabila for you then - on page 5 you will find a photo of Newcastle Wests Rosellas under 16s side in 2003 - with three guys named Walsh, Mullen and Inglis all in the side (and 4 or 5 of the Knights current Flegg side).

Hey chump, Inglis was signed at 14 by O'Sullivan.

The Storm put him through a club in Newcastle before realizing the bad crowd he was mixing with there (explains alot about the Knights), before sending him up to Queensland.

That's awesome, you might not believe it, but I lived around the corner from him in his hometown of Young (his parents still live there), went to school with him as well (he is 2 years younger than me), always knew he had the potential!

yeah - terrible crowd he was playing with there - Luke Walsh, Jarrod Mullen, Cory Paterson, Jon Tupou (Anthony's brother), all horrible kids, and he was going to Hunter Sports High where he was forced to mix with high achievers in a dozen sports - sounds like hell.
I've seen him quoted as saying he got in with a bad crowd in Newcastle, and that could only have been from where the Storm had him living, because he was playing with the best junior side in the country (the Knights feeder club) and going to a newly set up selective sports school that now has a fantastic record.

I'm just pissed off that the Knights and the storm seem to both spend money on juniors - the Knights spend their's on training kids how to play league, and the storm spend their's on stealing juniors from everyone else.
Here's an idea you guys have obviously never thought of - why not try training some kids from Melbourne - it's a big city - you can find it on a map i'm sure.

Stop your sooking droopy you really are coming across as quite the little bitch. Welcome to the real world, what Melbourne are doing is all part and parcel of the business and signing up young players no matter where they're from is perfectly legal and within the rules. Perhaps Newcaslte should try it, but i dare say they have because i highly doubt every single young kid that has been at the Knights is a local junior.

Now i'd be more worried about my own club than what i was of the Storm if i were you. The fact that young Miller wanted to leave says much more about Newcastle than what it does about anything else. The thing that makes funnier is that he didn't want to stay there even though his dad is an assistant coach at the Knights

Juniors are only the by-product of their parents choosing to live and work in a certain area, it doesnt give clubs exclusivity or ownership of them.

Junior development through the funding of the ARL, NRL and govt. is about providing a future for all league teams not just the team in that area

I wonder how NZ junior teams feel about their players being taken and shipped to Australia every year, or is that ok then.

You can be sure and certain that in five years time when the Storm have a proper junior development opertation up and running that other teams will be skimming talent from here, and you wont see me whinging about it as thats the competitve world we live in.

Its not our fault that we are becoming the #1 choice for the most young talented payers in the game.

you guys simply dont get it.

the Knights are part owned by the Newcastle RL.

the Newcastle RL puts millions into developing juniors.

they could spend this money on poaching other's juniors for the Knights, but instead put it into developing our own.

and clubs like the storm come swooping in and take the fruits of our labour - without funding their own juniors at all. Infact not many clubs do fund their own juniors - I believe Newc, Wests, StGeo, Souths, Rooters (ha!) and Parra are almost it.

and then the leach clubs seem mystified that we are a tad pizzed about it.

Yet on the flipside, when the Storm develops players like Reynoldson, Cross, Sargent, Cooper and the Knights 'poach' them, you don't expect us to be pissed off?

Get off the high horses, guys.
