lots of people go on about the Bradbury premiership but surely the 2010 Panthers are up there as well.

I've never seen a side get so many arsey bounces of the balls and calls in their favour.

So who is the luckiest side in recent memory?

have i left any other sides out?

This is the dumbest poll I have ever seen. Both sides mentioned fully deserved what they achieved, and whats more the better side over the 80 minutes won last night.

This is truly the dumbest poll i have seen

Both Sides did extremely well, Luck can only get a team so far.

re: 2005 tigers, a great run over more half a season doesn't not a lucky side make.

The only thing I can think of in relation to the 2005 Tigers being lucky was that Melbourne and Parra both got knocked out by the Cowboys in the finals. The Tigers struggled against both those teams that year and probably would have lost to them in the finals if they had met. They probably had their best year in terms of minimal injuries too.

where did I say i thought the tiges were lucky?

i said many people claim that the 2005 premiership was lucky

is this the first time you've heard of the bradbury premiership?

ffs learn some comprehension people.

my point is that IMO the Panthers this season have had an extraordinary amount of luck and are probably the only side in the comp with not a lot to bleat about when it comes to the bounce of the ball or favourable decisions in their favour.

yes, luck!

i personally don't think luck had anything to do with the tiges title, it was all down to the halves.

many on these very boards called it a lucky title, if the tiges in 2005 were lucky then the panthers should go buy a lotto ticket.

What's the point of having this poll if you then don't give people the option of voting for the other 8 years' winners?

Were the Storm lucky to win their premierships (later stripped) because they were doing it by breaking the rules every week?

Were the Roosters lucky to win because the Bulldogs got their points stripped?

Were Newcastle lucky to win because Parra choked after a near perfect season?

Tigers in 2005 absolutely destroyed all teams in front of them, including victories over both 2nd and 3rd and 2 absolute trouncings of 5th in the finals series, all on the back of a 8 game winning streak in the lead up to the finals.

The true winners of luckiest team of the decade is Brisbane. Particularly their 2006 season...

They lost their opening finals game, thrashed a terrible knights side, beat the dogs in the prelim on the back of dodgy calls and one hilarious capitulation, then rounded it out with one of the worst video ref decisions in the GF to hand them the win.

Doesnt get much luckier than that....

And that doesn't even take into account the first few years of the decade where they were mystically able to have 13+ starting QLD/NSW rep players in their side and still stay under the cap :sarcasm:

2005 Tigers were lucky by virtue of rule changes which turned the comp into a touch footy competition. Their young team and small forward pack became an advantage.

Not too dissimilar to what is happening this year. The NRL need to stop meddling with the speed of the play-the-ball.

Half of this forum will consider that statement a challenge. You'll see a dumber poll before the end of the season

Unfortunately you are correct

where did I say i thought the tiges were lucky?

i said many people claim that the 2005 premiership was lucky

is this the first time you've heard of the bradbury premiership?

ffs learn some comprehension people.

You said it by including them as one of two options in a poll entitled "luckiest team". Are you seriously as deluded as you come across? If only this wasn't the first time you'd said stupid things on here....

And for the record, the only time the term 'Bradbury premiership' has been used that I'm familiar with is the year the Dogs got done for doing the cap, and even still, that was just from bitter Bulldogs fans.

Penrith the better team last night?

1 x try off an arsey yet classy pass - tick
2 x tries off kicks, one which shouldn't have been awarded - tick
1 x try from an offside marker who ran out of marker well before the ball had been played

The Bulldogs dominated early proceedings and defended out an 8-4 first half penalty count to stay 16-6 ahead.

The only reason the Dogs lost that one was poor options from Roberts late in the game and the silly decision to go for the two pts when we had the Penrith defence on the ropes.
