Lol@derp fans suggesting 1999

Melbourne were extremely lucky to even reach the Grand Final, let alone win it. We comprehensively flogged them in Melbourne first week, then they got past Canterbury courtesy of a (very) lucky bounce off a Ricky Stuart grubber, then they were the beneficiaries of Parramatta's 2nd consecutive Preliminary Final choke, then Hollywood Bill held their hand to get them home in the second half of the GF. Can you name another team ever that has got out of jail 3 times in a row in the last 5 minutes, let alone to win a premiership?

p.s. I for one have never suggested the Tigers didn't deserve their 2005 Premiership. I watched them humble the Cowboys and Broncos in consecutive weeks, while we scraped through against Cronulla (followign an unconvincing win against the wooden spoon Knights and a bye). Why we were regarded as certainties to win, I have no idea. I'm well aware that a number of my fellow Saints fans have tried to taint the Tigers premiership as "lucky", but I don't agree.

1 x try from an offside marker who ran out of marker well before the ball had been played

Funnily enough they actually went to the video ref to check the last try. Pity he didn't notice that Burns went way to early. The Dogs should have had a penalty in front from 30 out.
Burns definitely didn't run out of marker too early - I think the replays had confused people into thinking that. They all started after the ball had been played and while Ennis was in the process of picking it up. Here's screenshots which show that he was behind Waterhouse after the play the ball was complete, and another that shows that he had stepped around Waterhouse to make the chargedown.

Angle 1 - 3 shots of the play the ball (start, middle and end) We can see Waterhouse at all times, a bit of field behind him and Burns isn't in view yet.

Angle 2 - This is the view they showed in replays, but unfortunately each of the replays started from the moment where Ennis picked the ball up. None actually had the play the ball. This is the earliest possible shot of this angle and you can see that in this angle just as Ennis is picking up the ball, Burns is in the middle of stepping around Waterhouse.

IMO the first series of shots show that the play the ball was completed and that Burns was still behind Waterhouse at the time, while the second couple of shots show Burns still in the process of stepping around Waterhouse as Ennis is about to fire off his pass.

Burns was just very determined to make that chargedown, and the time taken between Ennis firing off that pass and Kimmorley trying to line up the kick was just enough time for him to block the shot.

Hilarious how people in the game thread are suggesting he was "miles offside", "shaking hands with the dummy half" etc...just goes to show the value of straight out making sh*t up in internet arguments.

Roosters for having cashed up 3rd party sponsors to constantly purchase marquee players.

lots of people go on about the Bradbury premiership but surely the 2010 Panthers are up there as well.

I've never seen a side get so many arsey bounces of the balls and calls in their favour.

So who is the luckiest side in recent memory?

have i left any other sides out?
Petero being marched. Wow what a call in the Panthers favour that was. :sarcasm:

The luckiest team in the competition will be the Dragons if the Broncos beat Canberra by 15 or more.

No team can win a grand final purely on luck.

And anyone arguing Penrith's win last night should stop being bitches and be gracious in an honest defeat.

How was that season lucky?

That side had about 6 or 7 rep or future rep players.
