I've watched Clearly play a few times this year and I've noticed he's kicked on since last year and is getting better and better. This is the main thing that shits me re Brooks, that progression and Improvement isn't there. Like you said Fordy we are stuck with him, so with so not much we can do for now except hope so one else comes along and threatens his spot.

The main problem I see with Brooks is that he is stuck to that left edge. The great halves in our game roam freely across both sides of the field, especially when they see something on. Too grab the game by the scruff of the neck he needs to be everywhere. I know coaches talk about the left and right side but he needs to be dynamic.

The other thing I noticed in the first half in the souffs game was Brooks being ignored again by Harry Grant. One of the few times we were down on the try line in an attacking position, Brooks was screaming for the ball to go left yet Grant went to Reynolds on the short side right. Maybe the issue with Brooks is that no likes or trusts him?

At least with Benji, Reynolds, and even Mbye, they’ve all played finals before. Let Benji run the show at 7. Let Reynolds and Mbye fight over the 6 and cover each other.

Many people forget that Mbye used to played in the halves before and wasn’t bad either (I’d say better than Brooks)

Benji at 7 as the General is a must.I like the idea of trying Mbye at 6 especially as it enables us to play the 2 young guns Talau & Hoffman on the left edge.I especially want Talau to b playing left centre asap.

Mbye was terrible in the halves. I’d be more inclined to run him at fullback and try Douehi at 5/8.

Wish Luke Brooks would realise he has Luciano Leilua next to him who is a pretty handy attacking player.

Neither Benji or Reynolds is a long term option and if Walters was good enough, he would have been able to break into that Storm side. All of Ivan's stupid signings all expire at the end of 2022 and Brooks is one of three Tigers signed beyond that, so he's in our long term plans whether people like it or not.

We had a hard enough time trying to get a fullback, trying to get a new halfback for next hardly seems likely, especially given our cap situation. Besides, there is no one better on the market worth going after. Better off just sticking to the succession plan of giving Brooks another year at halfback with Reynolds and Madden a full season of playing 80 each week leading the Canterbury Cup side around and then make a decision on who leads the team around for the 2022 season.

As much as I don't like it... You're right, this is the most sensible thing to do.

Wouldn't be allowed to. Andrew Johns has employment somewhere within the sport industry which means he isn't allowed to be employed by wests tigers (same thing with Laurie Daley)
