  • Hannant is a good player I'll admit that.
  • Civoneciva is passed it.
  • Glenn is a utility forward at best.
  • Parker is only good for super coach.
  • Thaiday is a fat gimp, who made his name off running third man in.
  • Lewis is an over-rated hack of Kurt Gidley proportions.

Pritchard >> All listed.

With a run like that can you blame current managment for wanting to change the way things are done? If a player(regardless of how long he's been there) doesn't want to be on board with those changes then why keep him.

Penrith are in huge debt as a leagues club and a football club..there debts are in the mnay millions and no amount of pokies or bigger pokies clubs can cover them..their management has been dodgy for some decade and now you are seeing the results.
Just look at the Panthers crowds this year..all this promotion of them and the Eels as bastions of western Sydney is a wank..they are rabble off the field and a very boring team on it.
Gould is a snake, watch for him to pull up stumps and head back to Easts by the end of this year..he likes to criticise others but will not cop any criticism of himself.

Sharko, the SMH reports the Sharks may not be able to afford Lewis if they pay Tupou's contract.

In addition, Lewis' contract is worth over $400,000. With the Sharks documented financial issues. where does the money come?

Fact is none of you Guys no anything about any clubs financial status. Nothing about back ended contracts or the $$ the current players are on. It's all speculation.

How about the latest development news coupe. You must be excited.

Man I hope you are trolling. I like Pritchard as a player, but I wouldn't take him over any of the players listed here. Just using Glenn and Parker as an example. Glenn is probably one of the form second rowers of the comp, it is obvious you have watched very little of the Broncos this year. He has been great in defense and even better in attack. Parker plays a full 80 week in week out, makes plenty of tackles, has a good offload and takes plenty of hit ups, especially when others are tired. He was easily QLD's best forward in game 3. Myles was good, Parker was better, and again he played the full 80. You obviously watch no Broncos games, it'd be like me calling Pritchard his usual inconsistant self who goes missing in the big matches against top sides when I haven't watched a Bulldogs game.

And one last bit of advice, it's Puff Puff Pass and not Puff Puff Post

Why would you take the captaincy away from him? He'd served there longer than any other current player they have. Ridiculously poor player treatment from Penriff, & their fans know it.

T.

Gould knew what the outcome would be when he strippred him without consulting with him. The motives for Pantehrs wanting rid of him who knows. I do know there will be a big scramble going on from 15 other NRL clubs and probably 4 or 5 SL clubs right now to try and fit him into next years salary cap!

FFS tell me where Thurston, Fitzgibbon or Asotasi asked for a release? Lewis did not have his captaincy "stripped" - which implies losing it for punishment - it was given on a temporary basis to Kingston. The fact is that Lewis would have been named Penrith captain - and may still be - for the Tigers game.

I know Fitzgibbon and Mark O'Neill dummy spat when they lost the captaincy, but not enough to quite their contract.

He's a sook if it is due to losing captaincy.

Alright you clown, tell me when club captaincy became something that was just bandied around players throughout the season?

Sure we have this co-captain bollocks, but thats for clubs where the captaincy means nothing and its been replaced by the 'leadership group'.

It's the captaincy you have when you don't have a captain.

Lewis was the captain. Taking it off him mid-season was disgraceful.

It doesn't compare with Price at the warriors at all.

It was nothing less than a great big slap in the face, and it's not surprising that their professional relationship is strained.

Gould and Cleary did it deliberately, and they always knew this was on the cards. They obviously wanted him out or wanted his balls in a jar, so Lewis chose the former.

Cam Smith thinks its was stripped, and I'd hazard a guess he knows a damn sight more about captaining a club than you do.

Looking from the outside in - I haven't spoken to Lewey at all about this subject - having the captaincy stripped from you, surely it's got to have a big part in the decision that he made.

If Bellamy and Smith had a falling out and the captaincy was stripped from him mid-season, I wouldn't be surprised to see Smith looking for a new club either.

It's just flat out obnoxious.

To call Lewis a sook over it is abject stupidity. He's handled himself admirably in a very difficult situation.

He clearly hasn't stepped a foot wrong, he's just fallen foul of the Gus/Cleary slash and burn program.

In 2004 Paul Bowman had the captaincy taken from him after being the longest serving player (10 years), and only member of there inaugral season.

The Cowboys made the Major Semi in 2004 and the Grand Final in 2005. He just got on with it.

From outside in Lewis was resistant to every form of change they've attempted, and before was a strong advocate of the rotting ways. Big shake ups were needed, if he'd rather leave than get on board, then this is the best outcome for everyone.

Yep when you see the club you love and have been captain of, being torn apart by some blow in management type who wants to reinvent the wheel, rather than improve the one he has, it would be best not to be part of it.

Will they improve of the next few season, well probably, there is only one team below them.

I agree 100% with everything Hooch has posted.

Still makes me laugh how many thought stripping the captaincy was a media beat up.

Clearly it was far from that. To me very unproffessional from the club.

I also find it interesting Gould ensuring the blame is directed at him amd Ivan has been shielded.

Why would a player sign for Penrith after seeing how they treat thier best players and club legends.

From the press conference Lewis looked in shock. It really seems like his hand has been forced on this

He looked relieved, it looked exactly how all the rumours started and how it's been reported, like he wanted out.

Menzies lost the Captaincy when Manly were worse than the Panthers currently are. We all know how that ended up. We also all know there aren't many around like the great man.

So chris do you think Luke was the problem?

or

He did not buy into the suggested solution?

By all accounts Lewis and other senior players had been basically running the team for the past few years. Do you think they were doing a good job Mr A?

If Luke wanted out, and Gus/Ivan wanted him out, it's hard to believe they couldn't sort it out without going through this mess.

Taking the captaincy off him effectively indicated they had no confidence in him, and it was over from there on. He was not treated with the respect due a senior player so what is the point of sticking around? You move to greener pastures without the baggage.

Lewis acutally looked and sounded relieved in that press conference, like there was a load taken off his shoulders. They put him in an impossible position and they are smart enough to know it.

You could understand if they didn't think he played well with the responsibiltiy of captaincy, but it is very hard to believe that they couldn't get him on board with their plans for the future.

There was a power vacumn at Penrith under Elliot, and guys like Petero and Lewis are naive and end up getting pulled into the politics.

It's the job of a good coach to pull them out of that and have them focus purely on football.

It's very hard to believe that they couldn't have got Lewis on board with them and their direction, and focused on his game.

The truth is probably simpler in that both Gould and Cleary have fragile egos, and feel the need to totally rub out any reminders of the player power that had established itself in the club.

Hence Kevin Kingston as their club captain.

They will see improvement in a few years, but it certainly won't be because they punted Luke Lewis.

Sharp post.
