Everyone praises Smith about his recruiting of rejects from other clubs on minimal money who turn it all around under his coaching.

Well who is held accountable for the 400K going to Wicks/Mad Pup?

Talk about overs

Wicks may turn it around.

How could he have known about Lukes injury problems.

And BIHK, where did you hear that Adam was told to return to footy in 2003 or he would be gone?

And Karma, I agree with your call on Luke, but it was pretty clear you were implicating Adam in that comment.

It was so long ago that its hard to remember. I think roopy may know about it a little more than me. I remember adam said something about falling out of love with the game for a while there, however he didn't seem to fall out of love receiving his $300,000 contract for not playing though. The game where he came back the knights were playing the dragons and he scored 3 trys.

There were a lot of newspaper articles about Adam McDougall and how reluctant he was to return to training towards the end of his last contract with the Knights.
Too long ago now to remember the details, but it was clear the club thought he wasn't putting in and he was only offered an incentive based contract because of that - which is why he went to Souths for guarenteed money.

I dont recall that either but I was in the U.S for most of 03 so its possible I missed the story entirely.

If its true then I find it pretty disappointing

Later this year wicks could be 200K well spent and hindsight is a wonderful thing when it comes to a player who keeps injuring his tricep.

What bothered me the most out of the whole thing was when macdougall said that many isn't everything and implied that he would sign with the knights. The next day he signs a 400k (or there about) contract with souths...

The fact that he was told to get back on the field or go was actually reported in the local Paper. It was the start of the end for him here at the time. As BIHK says above, Doogs was ready to sign here with us, then disappeared overseas and left his manager to reveal that he had signed with Souths, and yes previous to all that he had said he wasn't playing for the money, but the money he got at Souths was huge, he later said he went there to play with his brother (sound familiar?)
