Luke Walsh is not the answer at half back.His performance today was totally unacceptable.Penrith ran over him he can't tackle, his kicking in general play is sh*t.
I think scott dureau should be our half if we don't loose him.....

Scotty is a 10 times worse defender that Luke Walsh. Walsh hasn't set the world on fire but he has showed some positive signs. He also rarely gets the chance to play behind a pack which is going forward, I'm not totally convinced that he'll get that next year either but he should be given that chance.

FFS some people astound me. There was only one player out there who could rightfully have his head held high - his name is Kurt Gidley. Everyone elses play was unacceptable, end of story.

Given the amount of games that luke walsh has played..he could have at least done something..all he does is shuffle the ball along..he has no long kicking game at all and he is a HUGE defensive liability..he did try to tack the line on one today in the first half and just plain looked stupid
Its time to get the ball into the hands of our best player again..Kurt Gidley at half back..Mullen 5/8..and fullback..seage..

Walsh has no tackling technique he "grabs".Yes , most of them played crap but he is not the answer at half. Scott and Jarred should be the half combination.Lets hope Brian sees sense re signs scott and gives him a go.Can't be any worse then Walsh.....

Bit harsh on his performance today. I thought he went okay in a side that just lacked everything you need to win games.

Infact I thought he went pretty good. Threw a few passes that were questionable, but the right decisions come with experience.

If he isnt your halfback answer, where to play him?

Blaming our season on a twenty year old halfback who has had to fill Joey's shoes is a very rich. Maybe we should accept Brian Smith sadly isn't what we need here. I like Smithy as a coach, but seriously the players don't want him and it won't improve. I maintain I would judge him on 2008 performance but getting 50 plus put on you each week is simply unacceptable. However tearing each other part on this board is exactly what the media wants to justify it's stance on this issue. We have Reyno wanting to sue the club and on and on it goes. By the Way Matt Elliot should keep the receipts on Woolnough and Tighe. They are rubbish.

He's been our best player this year by a country mile and its because he's a fullback, who can chime into the backline when needed.

He played solid tonight, not poor at all.

You cannot expect him to produce miracles and magic every game. Rather him play consistent solid footy than inconsistent hot and cold crap.

Can't believe that the commentators were trying to say that Walsh "slipped" when he had Pritchard running straight at him. Clearly it was a case of Walshy shatting himself and trying to get out of the way. :shock:

But you can't blame Walsh for anything that transpired today. I say give him an off-season to pack on the kilos, give him plenty of extra defensive training, and see how he goes next year.

For those who are saying its all Walshy's fault. Honestly, you have no idea. Could Johns tackle as well in his first 5 years in FG as he did in his last 5 years? Of course he f**king couldn't. He obviously worked on it over the off-seasons, which is what I'm sure Walshy will be doing too. He's still only a kid, give him time.
