I'm biased towards Stranger Than Fiction in that I'm a massive Will Ferrell fan, and his performance was absolutely amazing - as was Dustin Hoffman's (although that's not saying much - I've never seen a bad performance from him). That aside, I thought it had a brilliant story and was, all in all, a brilliant piece of cinema.

One of those movies that stays with me long after the credits have rolled.

It is good in that sense IMO, but it isn't complex enough to take my fancy. I find it something which lacks in substance, but something that essentially has a good concept.

Well, if we're being nit-picky, Euro Trip and Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (both of which I love) aren't exactly rich in substance either :p

My arguement for those was that it never tried to be anything more than a piss-take. Thats its genre, and IMO those 2 nailed the teen-comedy genre which is aimed at the teen male demographic. STF however tries to be so much more, therefore i believe it requires substance, IMO.

I'll give everybody until Sunday night to get their nominations in, and then I'll start tallying votes and posting the count down. The more votes we get, the more 'accurate' the list will be.

I'll leave this open a little longer. Not just because I'm currently internet deprived, but also because I tallied the other day and the bottom half was comprised largely of movies that received their only points from a single vote. Ideally, we'd avoid that to get a better cross section of the forum.

1. Requiem For A Dream - Most depressing movie ever made. Loved it :)
2. Bullet - Not the Steve McQueen version. The Mickey Rourke/Tupac Shakur version. Very underrated movie.
3. Midnight Express - True story about a man put in prison for drug smuggling. Only Requiem was more hardhitting than this.
4. American History X - What a performance from Edward Norton.
5. Full Metal Jacket - Best war movie ever made.
6. Pulp Fiction - The coolest movie ever made.
7. Kill Bill Vol 1 - Action is awesome. I never thought I'd ever enjoy a movie where the action lead is a lady. Tarantino convinced me :).
8. Once Were Warriors : Jake the Muss.
9. Mad Max 2 : Hard core action.
10. First Blood : The most underrated action movie ever made.
11. When A Stranger Calls (1984 version) : Scariest movie I've ever seen. The movie still gives me the creeps.
12. Rocky 3 : Good old Sly.
13. New Jack City : Wesley Snipes in his prime.
14. Breakdance : I've lost all credibility now....lol. You are a produck of your youth and I liked 80s breakdancing as a kid. Worth looking at for a Van Damme cameo...hillarious.
15. Romper Stomper : Go Crowe.

I'll give people until midnight and then I'm calling it. If you make any edits after this point, they won't count unless you tell me what changed :p

Tallying is done. I'll begin to post results soon. If somebody wants to vote and I haven't started counting down results, feel free. I can factor yours in.
