26th of December 2005

WWE's Monday Night Raw kicks off with Matt Striker already out in the ring. Highlights of his recent heel turn are shown before his opponent is announced as Jimmy Jacobs. The fans aren't terribly excited as the flabuoyant competitor stomps out to the ring in his furry boots for the match.

MATCH ONE - Jimmy Jacobs vs. Matt Striker
It's an entertaining match, really, with Jacobs showing a lot of technical and flying prowess in the bout. In the end, much to the fans' surprise, Jacobs looks to be fading after his earlier dominance - locked in a sleeper hold by Striker. As he fights it, he begins to stomp his furry boots, and in a bizarre parody of a 'Hulk up' - he fights out of the maneuver, hits a big boot, and then nails Striker with a move the commentary team describe as The Contra Code (a sitout springboard somersault three-quarter facelock diving reverse DDT). The referee counts it as Jacobs gets the win on debut, 1-2-3.

After the clash he stamps up the ramp screaming 'HUSS' at the top of his lungs, much to the crowd's bemusement and amusement.

Backstage he's stopped by Maria, who asks him what 'Huss' is. He proceeds to yell 'Huss' for a solid minute before settling down. He goes on to talk about how he is the Barbaric Berzerker, and how his Berzerker Boots possess magical powers. It's almost Wrestlecrap in some ways, but bizarrely amusing at the same time. He lets Maria pet his boots before stomping off yelling 'Huss'.

COMMERCIAL

Returning from the commercial we're treated to heavy heat as Rob Conway is out in the ring for his so called Legends Challenge. He talks about how he embarassed Jerry Lawler last week (something which Coach delights in discussing) and that he's going to do the same to his opponent tonight. His opponent is none other than Greg 'The Hammer' Valentine.

MATCH TWO - Greg Valentine vs. Rob Conway
This is a far from brilliant match, with Valentine's age showing. Still, it's enjoyable enough from a story-telling standpoint, with Conway getting a cheap win via the Ego Trip after blatantly low-blowing the former legend. The referee continues to ring the bell as Conway beats down the legendary wrestler.

We cut backstage to where Ric Flair is on the mike. He's got a match up against Shelton Benjamin next for his Intercontinental Title. He spends most of the interview, however, talking about how he can't wait for New Year's Revolution so he can put Hunter out of his misery.

MATCH THREE - Ric Flair vs. Shelton Benjamin (c) for the IC Title
This one is top shelf from start to finish, the two talented workers putting on a match of the night candidate full of inventive counters and action. Things are looking in Benjamin's favour early when the plucky, athletic young star is able to use his speed advantage - but later in the piece Flair fights back with sleeper holds and such. The match ends cleanly, remarkably, when Benjamin catches Flair on the top rope, tosses him to the mat, and then lays him out with the T-Bone Suplex for the retain.

After the match, Triple H appears on the ramp and mockingly applauds Flair's efforts. The Nature Boy gives chase but, as he rushes through the backstage area, he's blind-sided by TNT's Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch. The young tag team beat down Flair with chairs.

COMMERCIAL

We return from the break to see Flair being put into an ambulance following the beating he received. Out in the ring Triple H is with Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch, and the Game is laughing at how easy it is to find people willing to join him against Flair. He says that Cade and Murdoch both see that Flair's time has come, and they definitely see what an advantage it is to have Triple H on their side. Cade then gets on the mike to hype up his team's chances of winning the World Tag Titles later tonight.

We then cut backstage to where CM Punk is with Maria. She does her 'dumb' thing which eventually makes him lose patience. He snatches the microphone and says that people like Maria should be sent to special facilities - not put on international television to be ridiculed. He pities her, but not much as he pities the likes of Val Venis and Viscera. "Don't even get me started on the so called five hundred pound love machine. He's not only morbidly obese, he's also a womaniser. He's disgusting". He then goes on to talk about how he's going to beat Tajiri tonight.

MATCH FOUR - CM Punk vs. Tajiri
Predictably this is a good match, featuring two very good workers. Punk picks up the win clean after introducing the WWE to the Pepsi Plunge (a top rope Pedigree).

After the clash, as Punk celebrates, Viscera and Val Venis hit the ring. Whilst Punk is more than enough for Viscera in terms of speed - Venis is able to lay him out with a spinebuster before going up top for the Money Shot. This brings out Bischoff, who books Venis and Punk in a match next week to settle their differences.

COMMERCIAL

We return from the break to find Chris Masters in the ring. Last week he lost in an upset against Goldust, and he doesn't look happy. He's got a match up against Rosey tonight, and he intends to get back in the winner's circle.

MATCH FIVE- Rosey vs. Chris Masters
The burial of Rosey continues, with the former superhero barely getting off any offence in this one. Masters eventually wins it, predictably, with the Masterlock.

We again cut backstage to where Big Show and Kane are talking in their locker room. They basically talk about all of the pain they are planning to inflict on TNT.

COMMERCIAL

MATCH SIX - Kane & Big Show (c) vs. TNT for the Tag Titles
This match starts off with things all in the favour of the champions - with Murdoch made to look like a plaything by the larger pair. Cade fairs little better, although he does earn some heat when he knees Show in the groin and then knocks him to the match with a spinning neckbreaker. It's all for nought, however, when Kane is tagged in and continues Show's good work.

It all comes unglued for the champions, though, when Triple H makes his presence felt. He clubs Show across the back with a sledgehammer and the distracted Kane is caught in a reverse neckbreaker by Murdoch. TNT proceed to stamp on Kane before putting him out with their finisher. 1-2-3! They steal a win whilst Show lies bruised on the ground. TNT are the new tag champions!

COMMERCIAL

The crowd pops upon the return from the break, with John Cena shown backstage doing chin-ups. Kurt Angle enters the locker room and the two stare each other down. Angle says he'd better not get comfortable, as he intends to win his match against Edge to ensure he's in the running. Cena reminds Angle that if HBK wins tonight - Angle can kiss his title dream goodbye. Angle takes offence, but the two are held apart by the intervention of Goldust and Chavo Guerrero.

We then cut to a promo from Shawn Michaels, who basically talks about his dream to recapture the title one last time. He says he'll put Edge out of business tonight - and all of the money in the bank in the world won't save him.

MATCH SEVEN - Shawn Michaels vs. Edge
This is definitely the clash of the evening, a perfect blend of in ring chemistry, selling, and psychology. It's a damn fine clash, and it looks good for an HBK victory following Edge's failed Spear sending him shoulder first into the ring post. HBK's tuning up the band when Lita grabs his ankle. He spins around, yells at her, and then turns back into a Spear! 1-2-3! Edge steals a win! If he wins against Angle next week, he'll be the #1 contender!

Cena hits the ring and begins to brawl with Edge following the match, which of course draws out Angle as well. Edge is the victim of an F-U, but Cena is absolutely nailed with Sweet Chin Music right afterwards. HBK is then picked up and Angle Slammed to the mat - and Angle stands tall! The #1 contenders scene is no clearer, but next week we'll know for sure!

NOTE: This is the final show before Armageddon, and I must apologise in advance for how many matches I've 'thrown together' for the PPV card. It's a side effect of having to introduce new guys whilst also wrapping up the current WWE's sh*tty storylines.

1257498.jpg

Smackdown kicks off with the arrival of Faarooq and Rikishi, who last week made a dramatic debut when they assaulted Juventud following his Cruiserweight Title defence before reforming the infamous Nation of Domination. They're scheduled to make their in ring debuts against LOD 2005 - who last week showed signs of unrest following a loss.

MATCH ONE - LOD 2005 vs. The Nation of Domination
Unsurprisingly, this clash is all about brawling. It's nothing pretty, but with experienced workers like Animal and Faarooq involved - it has its moments. LOD 2005 seem to be on the same page again, putting last week's argument behind them to show what a dangerous team they can be. Animal has Faarooq set up for the Doomsday Device when things come unstuck, Heidenreich being shoved off the top rope by Rikishi. Animal releases Faarooq, lays out Rikishi, but then turns around into a Dominator. 1-2-3! The Nation steal a win on debut, and don't stick around.

Heidenriech helps Animal to his feet, but then slaps him! The two stare one another down before Heidenreich walks away in disgust, drawing some real heat.

We then cut backstage to where Josh Matthews is with Hulk Hogan, who last week stunned the WWE world by returning and winning a four way match for a shot at Randy Orton. He basically goes through his standard 'Hulkamania, brother' rant.

COMMERCIAL

We return from the break to find Ted DiBiase with his new charge, Lashley. He psyches up Lashley leading into his match against the infinitely more experienced William Regal.

MATCH TWO - William Regal vs. Lashley
This is a decent match, although something of a styles clash. Regal works Lashley over early with submission holds before he falls victim to Lashley's new finisher, a brutal looking snap powerbomb.

After the bout Lashley begins to celebrate, only to have Birchall attack him from behind and lock him in the Fujiwara Armbar. The fans boo as security breaks the pair up, but DiBiase is on hand to lay down a challenge. Birchall vs. Lashley at Armageddon, with the loser 'joining' the winner's management on a permanent basis. So will Birchall join DiBiase? Or will Lashley fall under Regal's watchul eye?

COMMERCIAL

The show fades back in on a limousine pulling up. This time it's Teddy Long nervously preparing for somebody's arrival. Don Callis is also nearby, demanding that Long tell him who he's spending 'the network's money' on hiring. Long just says it's a big deal. A very big deal.

The limousine door opens and the fans go absolutely ballistic as The Rock steps out! Rocky shakes hands with Teddy Long. Callis proceeds to suck up to him, which draws a classic promo from The Rock about ECW, the network being full of jabronis, and sticking his transmission tower right up his candy ass. He then makes his way for the ring.

COMMERCIAL

We return from a quick commercial break to see The Rock soaking up the crowd's adoration in the ring. 'Rocky, Rocky' chants eventually give to...

"Finally The Rock has come back to San Francisco! The Rock's been waiting. The Rock's been watching. The Rock's been making movies and wishing. Wishing that he'd be able to come back to the WWE and do what he does best - and that's laying the smacketh down on the candy asses of jabronis left, right, and centre"

He's about to say more when Ken Kennedy's music hits and the cocky young superstar appears on the ramp.

Rock: Who in the blue hell are you?
Kennedy: MIIIIIIIIISTER
Rock: It doesn't matter who you are! You come out here running your mouth about how your Mister Kennedy? Well I'm the gunman on the grassy knoll, and you're dead. The Rock is out here talking to the people because he is the People's Champion. All you are is a jaborni with a loud voice and the name of a dead president. You want people to respect you? Get in the people's ring and take on the People's Champion you monkey loving jabroni

Ken Kennedy makes as if to head to the ring but then stops, turns away, says he has a match tonight already, and walks off. The Rock isn't satisfied?

Rock: You want to walk away from The Rock? You're turning your back on The Rock. This isn't prison, Kennedy, presenting your candy ass to me isn't going to make me like you any more. You don't have the brass balls to take on The Rock tonight? Then how about you get in the ring at Armageddon? It'll be The Rock, People's Champion vs. Mister Kennedy - soon to be main eventing TNA pay per view.

The Rock then hits the 'IF YA SMELL' that gets the crowd going - before slamming down the mike and staring down Kennedy.

COMMERCIAL

Back from the break and Kid Kash is already in the ring for cruiserweight action. Next out is Gregory Helms, making his Smackdown in ring debut. Last out is Juvi, who is going to be hard up to defend his title in a three way dance.

MATCH THREE - Juventud (c) vs. Gregory Helms vs. Kid Kash for the Cruiser Title
This is a great, fast paced match. Helms is the major player in it, but it all comes unstuck for him (and the others) when The Nation's music hits and Faarooq and Riksihi begin to approach the ring. The three smaller men put their differences aside in preparation for a fight - but don't see the arrival of a new face. That's TNA's Samoa Joe!

Joe knocks down Kash with a clothesline before lifting up Juventud for a Muscle Buster. Helms smartly rolls out of the ring and exits through the crowd. Faarooq then gets on the mike to further disparage cruiserweights, and his rant draws out Teddy Long. He says he can't stand it any more. He's going to punish the Nation for 'haterizing' the cruisers. Firstly it'll be Samoa Joe up against Chris Benoit tonight! He then says that The Nation had better be at Armageddon - because if they wanted to be on Smackdown, they had to play by his rules.

COMMERCIAL

MATCH FOUR - Chris Benoit vs. Samoa Joe
Technical fans are salivating over this clash, which features probably the greatest tactician of all time (Benoit) up against the best young technical worker in the business. Sadly, for fans, this match isn't able to play out to its full potential (and why would it, on free TV?). Benoit and Joe put on a teaser of a match before Booker T interferes whilst The Nation distract the referee. A Book End seals Benoit's fate, and he's covered for a shock loss.

COMMERCIAL

Returning from the break and it's Ken Kennedy on his way to the ring. The commentators talk about his 'dream match' against The Rock at Armageddon, but Kennedy simply does his introductory shpiel before his match against Rey Mysterio.

MATCH FIVE - Rey Mysterio vs. Ken Kennedy
This is, once again, Kennedy's finest match to date. Mysterio sells well and it brings out the best in Kennedy. Typical to Kennedy's form, he is able to pick up the win via the Lambeau Leap only after interference from his new ally, JBL.

We then cut backstage to where Randy Orton is with his father. Randy talks about how, as a legend killer, it's his dream to face Hulk Hogan and put another legend to rest. It will be his crowning achievement. He only wishes it took place at Wrestlemania, not on Smackdown where the worthless fans could see it for free.

The full card for Armageddon is then displayed (will be posted separately).

COMMERCIAL

MATCH SIX - Randy Orton (c) vs. Hulk Hogan for the World Title
The atmosphere is electric leading into this one, with the Hogan chants on a par with Rock's earlier ones. The two lock up and the word 'classic' can be attached to this one almost automatically. It's good, old fashioned brawling with all of the hallmarks of Hogan's work. He hulks up, he gets beaten down, Orton kicks out after the leg drop of doom, and ultimately the ending is all that prevents this from being truly great - Orton opting for the cheap way out by blasting Hogan with a chair and ending it by DQ.

He proceeds to attack Hogan some more, but this only draws out Matt Hardy - who clears the ring with a steel chair. Hogan and Hardy then pose off to the delight of the crowd.

Scoring
Faarooq: Win (+5) = 5
Rikishi: Win (+5) = 5
Bobby Lashley: Win (+5) = 5
Juventud: Title Defence (+3) = 3
Samoa Joe: Win (+5) and Interference (+1) = 6
Booker T: Interference (+1) = 1
Ken Kennedy: Win (+5) = 5
JBL: Interference (+1) = 1
Hulk Hogan: Tainted Win (+3) = 3

Just letting everybody know that this isn't dead in the water, I've just been without internet access for a few days. Armageddon has been simmed and I'll post it tomorrow night (provided my internet is back in working order as promised). I've also laid out cards for New Year's Revolution and Royal Rumble - and they're both looking like interesting pay-per-views.
