FYI - Bulldogs have called a press conference for 4.00 pm (AEST) today to respond to the proposed fine from the NRL.

It’s just the opening shot from the nrl. Actually quite smart for once. Watch for a bunch of it to become ‘suspended’.

The thing that annoys me most about the situation is the way that the players' union carried on during negotiations, talking about the players being "partners in the game". It was always a load of crap and this sort of stuff proves it.

This fits perfectly. The NRL can donate that $250k for the parade float they sponsor each February that sees 1000’s of men and women walking thru the city streets naked and simulating sex acts in front of families and other visitors to our city. Hahahaha gotta love the irony

NRL is going to become like the US major sports where the athletes frequent there own bars and restaurants and don't ever mingle with the public

Feguson, Lodge, Pangai Jr, Tetevano, Fonua Blake and Packer are all still playing and have all done far more bad things than the Bulldogs mad monday did

Bulldogs response boiled down to:

- shocked at severity
- yet to confirm if they'll challenge it
- internal fines to players of $25k ($10k suspended) for Fine & Elliott, $10k (5k suspended) for Woolford & Montoya

The funniest part is those players are the only ones who were caught on camera, but the clubs actions imply they are the only ones who had any inappropriate behaviour? lol

Because the media had a huge hissy fit over this, Greenburg decides to be tough and hand down massive fines, whereas other incidents have been far worse and received less fines.

Seriously, its another over-reaction from the NRL.

Congrats to the OP for getting what he and his ilk wanted - outrage and hand wringing.

We can all rest easy now knowing that you're out there looking after our moral wellbeing

Absolutely. This whole incident belonged in a paragraph in one of Buzz’s gossip columns.

The “incident” only exists because photos were taken and put on the front page.

What exactly is the NRL punishing here? Are they going to fine every player who gets drunk? Or just the ones that get caught on camera?
