People wanting Hayne and Inu to take a pay cut when we have cap eaters in our squad like Lowrie,Cordoba,Weller and Oake. Then we sign B Smith who has struggled badly with injury and form since 2005 to a 4 year deal......

At the time of Jarryd and Inu re-signing, they both were on top of their game, plus I am pretty sure Tim Smith was the half back at the time. That year under Hagan was a great year for the Eels, so unless there was a crystal ball available, who was to know what the following year would bring.

Asking blokes likes Inu and Hayne to take a pay cut and going after Crocker is stupid. Yes Crocker is a great player, but he's getting on in years and how long till he starts to wind down. We are seeing this in our own forwards already. Inu and Hayne have their best years ahead of them, so we would be nuts to piss them off only to see them develop at some other club.

i'm not saying I know the answer, and would be great to have Crocker on the team, but sacraficing our top talent isn't the way to go about it.

Oh boohoo. If Hayne and Inu are really that keen on winning a Premiership with the Eels, they'll shut up and take a pay cut. If money and their status is all they care about then screw 'em.

They are still young and can earn plenty of big bucks yet. They need to do what's best for the team.

Oh please. Ben has an injury ridden year so suddenly he sucks? Cordoba a year or so ago was being compared to a young Nathan Cayless. Oake only just broke into Grade last year, so commenting on him is harsh.

I'm amazed why people defend Inu and Hayne when they had shocking 2008's. Yeah, yeah - so did everyone else. But when you're making nearly as much money, if not more, than Nathan God Hindmarsh, you have to pull your finger out and be held accountable.

Mate thank God you're not on the board. Look back when they had stand out years, they got signed for what they are worth. I think I am correct in saying that Hayne accepted less money to stay at Parra. I'm with you that they had a shocking year last year, and so did the whole team, so I guess the whole team should take a pay cut. I bet if we signed Crocker, he wouldn't come to the club because he wanted to win a premiership with Parra, no, I bet he would come over to our club for money and status, the very reason why you would tell Hayne and Inu to get stuffed.

So which is it, tell Inu and Hayne to get stuffed because they only care about status and pay, and sign Crocker knowing he's only coming to the club for status and pay. There seems to be something wrong here don't you think.

Hayne, INU or any other contracted player at our club, shouldn't have to take a pay cut, instead the club themselves should be held accountable for signing players on the sort of sallary that their on and at the same time our blue chip players should also be expected and encouraged to play at a level over and above those who aren't expected to perform to their level consistantly.

Stagger has probably stated the obvious, there were players signed during the past 12 months that got overs. The concentration by our ex-coach to just re-sign the players in nhe top 25 underlined what we all know, he apparently had little idea or interest (those who attended the STH meeting saw that in spades).

That coupled with a first year football manager seems to have sowed the seed of our current roster.

As we have suggested before, the young guys on the edge of the squad have to step up, it would seem that we have no ability to manage the cap effectively when opportunities arise like this.

I think we need to be honest about the upcoming year and the squad the current coach has been left with, we will be lucky to finish in the top 10.

Who said he sucks?? I meant who would sign someone to a 4 year deal with all the injury problems he has had. How many games has he played in the last 2 seasons???? And Cordoba was woeful last season no two ways about it, as was Weller while Lowrie trys hard for the money he is on he is just not up to it....
