At the time of Jarryd and Inu re-signing, they both were on top of their game, plus I am pretty sure Tim Smith was the half back at the time. That year under Hagan was a great year for the Eels, so unless there was a crystal ball available, who was to know what the following year would bring.
Asking blokes likes Inu and Hayne to take a pay cut and going after Crocker is stupid. Yes Crocker is a great player, but he's getting on in years and how long till he starts to wind down. We are seeing this in our own forwards already. Inu and Hayne have their best years ahead of them, so we would be nuts to piss them off only to see them develop at some other club.
i'm not saying I know the answer, and would be great to have Crocker on the team, but sacraficing our top talent isn't the way to go about it.
People wanting Hayne and Inu to take a pay cut when we have cap eaters in our squad like Lowrie,Cordoba,Weller and Oake. Then we sign B Smith who has struggled badly with injury and form since 2005 to a 4 year deal......
whats todd carney doing these days?
Oh boohoo. If Hayne and Inu are really that keen on winning a Premiership with the Eels, they'll shut up and take a pay cut. If money and their status is all they care about then screw 'em.
They are still young and can earn plenty of big bucks yet. They need to do what's best for the team.
Who said he sucks?? I meant who would sign someone to a 4 year deal with all the injury problems he has had. How many games has he played in the last 2 seasons???? And Cordoba was woeful last season no two ways about it, as was Weller while Lowrie trys hard for the money he is on he is just not up to it....Oh please. Ben has an injury ridden year so suddenly he sucks? Cordoba a year or so ago was being compared to a young Nathan Cayless. Oake only just broke into Grade last year, so commenting on him is harsh.
I'm amazed why people defend Inu and Hayne when they had shocking 2008's. Yeah, yeah - so did everyone else. But when you're making nearly as much money, if not more, than Nathan God Hindmarsh, you have to pull your finger out and be held accountable.
