Souths were great, totally picked up from last year. Reynolds...Might take the chooks some time to sort their ship out, early days...

Just on the game last night JWH really impressed with his workrate and hitups, keep that up and hes a goer for the WC

Same.

Not really a fan of him as a bloke, particularly when he's playing for the Roosters. But he was the Roosters' best last night, for sure.

On Maloney, I think he'll be a perfect foil for the Roosters. Someone who can take a bit of heat of Pearce, and I think once $BW gets back to his brilliant best, there'll be no one else more proficient than latching on to his offloads and causing significant damage. My prediction is he'll make his Origin debut later this year - as will Feleti Mateo, another guy who made Maloney look a million bucks. TBF to Maloney, if it was that easy to back up an offloader and get a line break/score a try, everyone would be doing it. Its obvious he has good natural instinct in that regard.

Hope he goes well. Did a good job for along time for us, and was fairly honest from the get go about what he was prepared to put into the Warriors and what their expectations of him in terms of tenure at the club would be. Obviously fell apart last year, this whole signing a year out is a dogs bollocks situation - Sharky Brown also fell apart for us after signing miles out for Uncle Ivan.

Great hole runner- SBW and Maloney combination could be devastating. The best offloader in the game (potentially) and the best hole runner in the game.

The problem though is SBW getting quality ball to begin with,

Bodes well for Taylor in 2013, doesn't it?

to be fair, Jake Friend was the real culprit on that try (and that's who i thought Aubusson was swearing at, actually). Not a lot Maloney could do one-on-one against someone twice his size scrambling across a meter out from the line after Burgess had just brushed Friend off like lint off a suit jacket..

But all in all, Maloney was poor. First game of the season, yes, but him and Pearce are way too similar to get much going, imo.

Yeah jake friend got fly swatted. Was just pointing out James and his latching on to burgess like a koala, as he did many many times for us. A bit more than a meter out, actually.

Maloney got a lot of hate for his missed tackles, but as mentioned he often got left as a sitting duck 1-1 and got owned when others around him (Johnson) weren't even around to attempt a tackle. This happened a lot in last years "golden run". Even if it was him versus JWH he'd have a go.

There is a count for missed tackles for screwing up an attempt, but not for missed tackles because of being MIA.

I don't think anybody expects Maloney, or any half, to be a perfect defender (though its a massive bonus when they are). If they create more tries (or opportunities) than their defense concedes, you're happy.

Who else is expecting a "Maloney, the Destroyer" performance this week, against us???

And we had to be playing @ ED3N park too, didn't we! 2nd "L" coming up folks.

I want the off-season back!

I expect the Roosters and Panthers to utterly crush us when we meet this year. The Warriors have no soul, no mana.

Maloney had a good game in a below average team performance. His defence was pretty darn good considering he had Ben Te'o hunting for him all game.

Sour grapes, I think. Try viewing it more objectively.

Also, a big LOL at expecting him to stop a monster prop from diving over from a meter out.

Maloney's shit.

You're better off without him. He's got two decent attributes, goal kicking and support play.

He can't pass or break a tackle.
