Yes I will put my hand up. But I know he is a weapon in attack but I stand by his efforts in defense at times
worry me for the elite money.

Yeah, I don't disagree that the defensive side of the game is his obvious weakness at times, especially at the moment because he still looks like he's swallowed a fridge. Get him to peak fitness, and that will tighten up. But I just think that what he brings to the team with ball in hand is very hard to find.

He causes massive headaches for opposition teams because he's very difficult to bring down, and he's such a good ball player who can create something out of nothing. I don't even mind that he got the pass wrong to Ravalawa. Obviously, you don't want him getting it wrong too often, but if that pass goes to hand, we score. He's exactly the type of player we needed to sign. A player who can put doubt in the minds of opposition defences.

Regarding his salary, as far as I'm aware, we are in a good place where the cap is concerned, and in my opinion, Leilua is an elite, edge-backrower who should be paid accordingly. All the club has to do now is make the retention of Su'a, on a long term deal, a priority, and we'll be sitting pretty as far as our edges are concerned for years to come...

That deceptive little factoid gets trotted out by the Blake lovers whenever he gets criticised. To be player of the year in the disgraceful rabble that the team was last year says it all really. It really shows just how woeful the team was that plodder Blake was regarded as our "best".
The best steaming turd in a bunch of steaming turds is still a steaming turd......

Anyway it would be a shame if the spotlight was taken off the great win we had last night so I'm just going divert attention back to that. Oh and point out that early on in this thread when all the doom and gloom was being thrown around I boldly predicted we'd win by 6.
Close enough! Mission accomplished! :D
I’m not a fan of Blake, was just pointing out that not only the fans rate him, it seems the club management does too.
Sure, last year was a steaming pile of shit, but according to the club, Blake was the best of that pile.
So my point stands, not only the fan base rate him highly.

Lawrie is a good toiler, nothing more nothing less.
He will never make any rep teams but he is just a solid worker.
Lawrie needs to pull his head in with giving away unnecessary penalties and pulling players hair.
The ridiculous penalties he gives away reminds me of Jason Ryle. At one point in Ryle’s career, referees were penalise him just on suspicion.

He loves giving away a 6 again too.

Hello brother.

It was ugly, it was error riddled but our defence made me proud. 2 massive points. A lot to do but a fair amount to be proud of.
Yes Bud a defensive effort to be proud of.......tell you what mate that last 15 minutes goes slow when your in front.....loved the way Alexander kept banging on to Voss after Manly scored their last try with about 5 to go how he's seen teams score a couple in that time.....blokes a real pain in the arse when it comes to death riding us....sucked in Brandy it didn't eventuate did it you A grade tosser

Manly have been awful tonight
Sissy,
Got to give it to the crowd today, great atmosphere, I was in the Northern Stand nearly 80% full, the game was exciting simply because of the errors, still you can see improvement in the team, still lots of work to do and we wouldnt want to go to the Knights thinking we are world beaters or we will do a Manly. We need that consistent defensive effort every week. Tuitavake had a good game in ressies , drop Lawrie and bring him in.
yes I think it’s time. At the very least Flanno has to commit to pick on form.

You hear what you want to hear. Alexander made a lot of pro Dragons comments during the game and before & after.

Gutsy win yesterday despite the dropsies.....we still need to improve our dummy half darts and supporting the ball carrier....I guess there's a lot to fix in attack atm for Flanno as he's primarily a defensive type of coach ......but it's an area that needs addressing sooner rather than later if we're to advance further with our skill set

:100: ..still people bag him. Admittedly Blocka did not have his best game yesterday, failing to reach his normal 100+ m, but he still outplayed Frank Molo and Hame Sele. And dumb pulling that dudes man bob, may cost him a game.
Come on BG , he played better than no one on the Dragons side yesterday. Don’t know about dropping him but he will always be the fourth prop , on a good side.

NRL stats has Lawrie down for 35 post contact metres, I think they meant -35 because he was driven back on at least half his runs, quite easily too. He and Molo defended well but yeah, they both give away penalties with alarming regularity, worse though is their lack of metres or impact and where other props are good for a barge over try we needn't bother even trying with these two. If we could nab NAS or some other prop with impact in the next month or so that would help our cause no end - two new props would be magic. In the meantime we might need young Fifita or Couchman to step up or even BMM, guys who at least make 10mtrs per run.

A couple of things from that game - I'm really proud of the boys, don't get me wrong but - Hunt is still trying to do too much. Kyle has a decent kicking game but again kicked only twice while Hunt kicked 16 times - that's not only unnecessary, it lets the opposition know what's going to happen on the 5th - mix it up, let Kyle kick a few more and maybe try something now and then to keep the opposition guessing.
Another thing, I'm liking Zacs' work rate rate but he needs to let the forwards do their work - he was popping up for a run on the 3rd or 4th tackle in the middle of the field or even over on the left where the left backrower should be hitting it up.
Something missing from round 1 was some passing back through the ruck, turning the ball in then out again with Sloan or someone steaming onto it. We have some very handy forwards in Luc, RFM and JDB, all capable of some clever passes and off-loads, need more of that too.
Lastly, we need more out of Luc, Kyle, Suli and Rav in attack on the left, not just using their obvious size, strength and power to get us downfield only to see the ball swung back to the right at the first opportunity - those guys need to finish their movements down that side and put Rav away. Also Suli and Rav are both good in the air but we always kick for Lomax. Kick for the boys on the left, even Luc could do well competing for the ball given his height and bulk.

Oh and to reiterate what I said last week, "hold the fkn ball" you morons ! I think some of them got over excited and broke out the KY at half time.

Apart from that, loving the new look Dragons. We'll do Newi, no wuckers, Rav owes them a couple of big hits.

It was a fantastic defensive effort, no doubt, but we really don’t need to make it that difficult for ourselves. Our general kicking has to be the worst in the comp, we really need Flanagan to take more kicking responsibility, we should be aiming to kick long and low into the corners when kicking from our half. Hunts midfield bombs should be banned, we are handing the ball over near halfway.
When close to the opposition line, we need a result from our kick; a try or a repeat set. I’d like to see the stats, we would have to be the worst team at forcing repeat sets of six from the opposition.
Our very poor kicking game is giving the opposition too much ball in our own half. It really needs to be fixed.

It must have been really damp conditions, or legit we filled the game balls with KY Jelly, cause the NSW Cup Manly team dropped nearly every ball themselves.. completions was at 25% at one point, I think it maxed at around 47%, ive never seen anything like it.. But I loved it.. cause we are a 50/50 chance in any dropathon, possibly more than that actually.... whats that expression about arguing with an idiot? Drop him to your level and beat him with experience?

I think KFlann can put his time at the bulldogs to one side and know that he fell to the recent bulldog curse that makes players worse whilst at Belmore.

He was good at the Roosters and has been good with us. Especially his defence.

JDB was our best. A beast.

Eisunhuth was all class
Yes. Well put. I know K flanno isn't a flashy player, but him holding up the ball for Sloan showed some good game awareness as a half - he's not a dud, that's for sure and he's definitely shown he can play eyes up footy. His short kicking game is also very accurate which impressed me as well. And as you said, his biggest bargaining chip? His defence. Our last 5/8 used to make 7 tackles and miss 8. This is refreshing to see.
