Strong words from Trent Robinson today. Basically came out and said it is ridiculous that in 2022, manly have had to apologise for trying to do something that promotes equality and inclusiveness. Without saying it, he alluded to the players who are sitting out needing to get with the times.

completely contradicted himself

I’m personally really looking forward to the ‘People who like wearing Oodies’ round, which is scheduled for the second weekend of pre-season games next year.

Wayne Bennett has agreed to appear in promotional material..

Tim Sheens is still considering it.

I have 2 Sharks oodies. Nice garments. Very warm you know

Do

Dont forget not working on Sundays
Was it Will Hopoate who refused to play on Sundays after his Mormon mission?

I'm wondering if the Magnificent Seven are specifically Mormon because it can't be a general Christian thing as 3 of the replacement are Polys and likely christian.

but nobody has stopped a gay person from playing Rugby league or getting a job for that matter..

Trent is one smart cookie, he obviously means his words and yet at the same time he has garnered some silent support from Manly fans before the game has started.

Are you certain that nobody has ever been passed over for a job in favour of another candidate based on sexual preference? Seriously?? I personally know of a number of young men who were considered too 'normal' for a career in the clergy lol. No, but seriously, you can't seriously be serious.

Speaking of self-contradiction, let's explore the Manly 7 homophobes cherry-picking exactly which religious scripture they'll take a stand on and which they'll conveniently ignore. To paraphrase; Jahweh is offended by his gay creations, but tacitly approves of gambling, booze and tattoos. Please...

I couldn't decide which word best described their behaviour so I had to invent a new one, "hypotwatical" :D

Who don't feel comfortable coming out because of team mates like those at Manly.
Imagine being gay and knowing team mates would rather not play than have a jersey that represents including everyone.
Spot on. Across the league some of those that have the faith of these 7 fall into the category they apparently don’t think should be included.

Exactly. All they need to do is stay quiet about their lifestyle and they can do whatever they want behind close doors.

(I hope you were being tongue in cheek, because I most definitely am).
I can see why you were being cheeky but I’m serious. Anyone who thinks all 480 contracted players are manly (excuse the pun) men who just loves tits n pussy is kidding themselves.

Yet, are they though? Like I have said a few times now, society is pretty inclusive these days. I'm sure the playing group don't give a f**k to be honest. As much as LBGTQIA+ don't GAF about hetros private lives.

Respecting gay people doesn't mean endorsing aggressive rainbow political activism. The two are very different concepts.

Andrew Webster ( The Journo ) is gay. Doesn't seem to harm his career, nor affect the dealings with those in the game.

Same for Checcin when he came out.

I doubt it is the playing group that is the issue and more the external pressures that come from being the 'only' current gay NRL player.

I completely agree. The fact that none of the 25+ young men who are statistically likely to be gay feel comfortable about coming out suggests that gestures like the one Manly has tried to do are so needed.

I guess we will just need to agree to disagree on this one Coolum. My comment above shows my reasons.

I don't think it is the players/Clubs that are the issue.

X player comes out, The press will go crazy about it and the pressure would be nuts. There would no private life, sad really but I get the want to keep such stuff private
