they wouldn't wear the shirt if they so choose.

Plenty of people in those christian holiday periods that choose to wear the normal uniform. It's not mandated you must wear this shirt.
Depends on the corporation.

so your company trots out a uniform sponsored by Epstein's former hedge fund.

what do you do?
Legal Company? Legal product?

Wheres is problem?

Talk about pandereing to a minority.

acceptance is acceptable until it's not something you believe based on your own belief system or morality.

they have been made an example of and paraded through the media for something that was exclusive and not inclusive.

wearing the normal manly jersey is inclusive for all.

It doesn't promote one subsection of the community over another. It is for anyone who wants to wear the clubs colours.

it's a club and they play rugby league.

Simple as that.

Chin up old son!

Whenever life gets you down, Mrs. Brown
And things seem hard or tough
And people are stupid
Obnoxious or daft
And you feel that you've had
Quite enough

Just remember that you're standing
On a planet that's evolving
And revolving at nine hundred miles an hour
That's orbiting at nineteen miles a second
So it's reckoned
The sun that is the source of all our power

The sun and you and me and all the stars that we can see
Are moving at a million miles a day
In an outer spiral arm, at four hundred thousand miles an hour
In the galaxy we call the Milky Way

Our galaxy itself contains a hundred billion stars
It's a hundred thousand light years side to side
It bulges in the middle, six thousand light years thick
But out by us, it's just a thousand light years wide

We're thirty thousand light years from galactic central point
We go 'round every two hundred million years
And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding universe

The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding
In all of the directions it can whizz
As fast as it can go, of the speed of light, you know
Twelve million miles a minute and that's the fastest speed there is

So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure
How amazingly unlikely is your birth
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere out in space
'Cause it's bugger all down here on Earth
What are you going to do when they add MAP to the acronym and they will.

People can just hide behind religion for anything. Paul Kent last night going on about the way they were raised and their culture.

I'm not religious at all. Would I get the same sympathy from Kent if I said "I don't support gay people... I'm not religious, it's just the way I was raised by my dad who hates gays".

Ridiculous.

Absolutely ridiculous situation in general.

The unnecessary damage this has caused.

Think about the personal brand damage to these youngs players forced into this situation at the 11th hour.

Impact on personal sponsorship dollars, future contracts.

Tarred and feathered.

So, these believers are making a stand because their god doesn't approve of gays. But apparently, everything's apples with gambling and booze. Principled? Or homophobic cherry picking? Hypocritical as feck.

Also, (and I feckin hate Manly btw) let's all blame the club for daring to assume that their playing roster wasn't made up of small-minded bigots/it was 2022.

The NRL has learned you cannot be everything to everybody. You cannot harvest the fruit of cultural diversity and profit off people of different nationalities and cultures participating in the game and then complain when you actually are faced with a diversity of viewpoints. The talent of maori, polynesian and islander players coming into the game over the last 20 years has made the game a better spectacle and is part of the reason revenue has skyrocketed. That's a fact, it's also a fact that many people from these communities are christian conservatives and the conversations that take place around their dinner tables won't be the same as in trendy inner city cafes filled with lefties. The NRL wants a game of players who look diverse but who all have the same opinions. Real life doesn't work that way.

If the players objected to playing with a gay man I would 100% disagree with their position and would be in favour of the ultimate consequence of tearing up their contracts. But when it comes to being against the symbolic crap, I can see their point.

These are corporate gimmicks so more jerseys get sold and the executives get patted on the back by other business elites.
