Doubt this will free up much cash for the Dragons as they're hoping. They'll probably have to pay out some of his remaining contract anyway.
F*** it pains me to say this but I agree with you...So people really believe he'd play the two cheapest years on his contract but then f**koff before his salary balloons? All this smells a little dodgy to me.

Well we don't know the details of the agreement. It might be that they agreed to pay out a portion of his remaining contract for him to go now. That would make more sense than him leaving something like 1 million dollars on the table.I'm a little confused. It's his choice to retire. Why would his contract be paid out?

Ummmm, I was talking about Hodges, dickwad.Gasnier put two trys on in game 3.
Wipe the spunk from your eyes and watch the game, you goose.
FMD.....can you get any more stupid? What grounds have the NRL got to ban him from ever playing the game again? And how can you count money into the cap for a guy who isn't even registered to play for that club?A few people can see it but most can't.
Spaznier is only retiring cause he'll take up too much of the cap next year. It is extremely likely he'll be back on a minimal contract like Rogers next year. The NRL should make sure that:
1. His remaining contract is counted under the Dragons salary cap next year, regardless of if he plays or not, since it is backended.
2. He never plays again.

This is a special situation. He is retiring cause he knows he'll be paid much more than he's worth next year, and take too much of the cap. He'll likely try and get back into the team during the origin period for a minimal contract equal to 2010.
I think there should be an investigation into this, the legitimacy of the Dragons is now severely corrupted, especially since he said he had no intentions of playing past this year at the beginning of the season.
