Media opportunities, an ageing body and a family he wants to spend more time with would all be valid reasons methinks

Saints will seriously be in the market for some big signings.

This explains the signing of moltzen as well. Dragons fans were certainly scrathing their heads as to where he was going to fit

The haters are just gonna sling shit anyway. They all cried about how he was crap in SOO, not worth the money he is contracted on with Dragons, etc etc. And now, if he retires, they will bleat some more about it not being fair the Dragons have all this money to spend. You gotta love it.

Already started too....with bhp wanting his record stamped as never allowed to play NRL again. What if Smithy talked him out of retirement? Roosters seem to have a thing for old Dragons.

Personally, I think it is a wise move for Gaz and the Dragons if he does retire at the end of this year. Not only the money his contract will free up, but also the chance for some new fresh talent to take over the reins. Gaz, champion player who will be missed, but also a very rewarding career in the media ahead for him too.

Losing Boyd and Gasnier will take a fair amount of strike out of the Dragons' back line. Can't say I'm disappointed, I never liked the bloke. The highlight of his career for me was seeing him get smashed (albeit illegally) by Matai in the test match.

if he retires make sure he is by stamping him never to play nrl again

right after "best halfback in the world" mitchell pearce is stamped never to play origin again.

p.s. have they found him yet?

it is surprising news about gasnier, i think he's been a lot better this year than last year.

Roosters seem to have a thing for old Dragons.

Roosters are always in the market for players from more successful clubs, look how many players they've bought from the Bulldogs, Roosters and Manly over the past 7-8 years.

They all cried about how he was crap in SOO, not worth the money he is contracted on with Dragons, etc etc. And now, if he retires, they will bleat some more about it not being fair the Dragons have all this money to spend.

He was crap in origin. Noone cares how much the Dragons paid above his worth for him. The Dragons will have money to spend with Gas and Boyd both leaving, I doubt most people will be complaining about it though, BHP might be an exception.

Maybe not being the player he once was has dampened his enthusiasm. When your heart isn't in it, it's tough. I think he knows his best is well behind him. While he's been good since he came back, he's been far from great and isn't anywhere near what he was.

He was a passenger in Origin. Good on him for knowing when to call it curtains rather than drain the club dry.

Doubt the dragons will have much to spend. Boyd didnt originally come for for big money plus everyone of the rest of the team who won the comp will have got upgrades. Happens to everyone after they win it.

With a bit of luck he'll take that other over rated nuffy Matt Cooper with him.

Goosnier's dismal SOO series this year has made him realise he's sh*t and can't cope any more at the highest level

See ya Goose......thanks for the memories.

It will be even sweeter to see the Storm ends his career without the farewell he so desperately wants.
