While on the topic of Moses, Hooper pointed out that the 29-year-old could actually become a free agent again as early as November, 2025 due to clauses in his contract.

“This is another ridiculous deal that Eels management have ticked off on,” he said.

“Last year they trumpeted the fact that Mitchell agreed to a five-year extension with the club. It’s not a five-year extension, it’s a three-year extension (but) in 2027 and 2028 he has player options in his favour... if things do turn pear-shaped at Parramatta, if he wants to he can get out.”

Yep Player options are great business.

Lets have the same the circus we did last year for half the season with our halfback.

Will he or wont he take up his player option.

f**k off back to Wests Tigers Buckets you have destroyed this club enough with the bald fraud that is now sitting at Leeds.

Why would any club agree to a player option?!? You’d have to ask one of the ten clubs who have them on their books. The obvious answer is that it’s a way to compensate a player without increasing his value under the cap. As for whether they are a problem, it’s only the case if the option is for more than the player is worth.

You obviously assume he won’t take up the option. It is there to project the player if he gets injured during his off contract year. It’s not get out clause, it is assumed he will chase the best deal when he can, no different to any other off contract player. But if he can’t get anything better he takes the clause, which he is entitled to from taking less cash up front (and using less cap space) on his previous negotiation.

Well i am putting the heat well & truly on "Frank Poniessi of the West" now we have all this cap space clear for 2025 is to ensure he gets these deals & players over the line Ryles wants.

If the R&R continues to be shitshow for the next 12 months and this cap space we have cleared out and we fail to capitalize

He should be frog marched out of the joint back to Concord.

I don't think they want him there either.

Agree but it’s also possible the recruitment strategy and some of the moves we have made recently will be about building the squad over the next 2-3 seasons not just for 25

So how will you know which players Ryles wants or wanted and who the guy with the petty cash tin managed to land ?

well for mine right now with Ryles being the new coach it's JR wants them and MON has to go fetch

the big issue for me is that who are the main scouts or talent identifiers ?

doesn't MON just do what he's told or is he part of the scouting network ?

Logic suggests that the coach sets a direction. The R&R committee have input on both players and budget. A list is produced based on availability. The coach most probably puts that list in order by priority. The R&R committee prolly rubber stamp what the coach wants. MON and his underlings goe to market and report back frequently with updates.

I think there is a perception that one person is the Lone Ranger in this operation and I reckon that that notion is flawed.

well that's right....

MON's sidekick AKA as the list manager Ben Rogers has a massive role to play in this also.

Which is my point. There are people on here who just throw rocks at individuals when it is most likely a result of poor targeting, poor recognition of talent, poor manager relationships, arrogance, lack of negotiations skills OR on the flip-side maybe the past roster is based on what BA wanted and that's what he got. Or maybe a complicated combination of everything which resulted in a poorly overseered cluster f**k.

The Board don't work full time and they delegate responsibility to those who do. There are a lot of people on last chances I reckon.
