Mark Shipway - Good buy or not?

As i'm sure most of you already know, Mark Shipway has signed for Salford City Reds for next seasons up and coming SuperLeague season.

When i've seen Manly play I can not recall seeing Mark playing, although I was told he had a bad injury last season?

So is he a good buy? What kind of player should we be expecting?

Really good buy, good hard hitter and can sniff out a try.

Can't see why he wouldn't carve up over there. Fairly sure he has been to Salford before, when playing for the Cowboys in the World Club Challenge in 97.

He's a sensational defender, he's awesome in my opionion. Didn't have a great year due to injury

Last year he was plagued by injury but in 2001 he was one of Manly's best players. He runs the ball hard and is a hardhitting defender.

He's one guy I wish we hadn't let go...was plagued by injury in 2003 and didn't really get a chance but he'll be a great buy for you guys!

Yeah, keep us informed. It will be interesting to see how he goes. If he stays injury free and can recapture his 2002 form, then you've got a terrific buy!

I wanted the Dragons to sign him, but we picked up Jensen instead. Shipway was one of the hardest hitters in the comp.

in 2002, players were polled on the hardest hitters in the game, and Shipway was mentioned as one of the best!.

And I've sat with him at Manly Leagues and he's not the biggest bloke you've ever met....it's just the way he hits that is effective...still wish we'd kept him!
