Unless Alonso was higher than fifth

If Alonso had finished better than fifth, Vettel would have been out of business

You seem to think that Red Bull would rather Alonso win the Championship than Webber...

I think Red bull were willing to risk Alonso winning the title to give Vettel the best possible chance, yes.

I've seen nothing over the last few rounds to tell me otherwise

If Webber had Been in 2nd place the whole race with Alonso in 3rd Vettel would have let Webber pass him for the lead...

But luckily for Vettel Webber was slow and all of Ferrari's thoughts were on Webber not Vettel..

Yes, if it came down to the last lap and it was Vettel, Webber, Alonso, then I'm sure they'd have instructed Vettel to pull aside, but make no mistake that is the ONLY situation that they would give Webber advantage.

While ever there is a sliver of hope to Vettel, Webber will receive and has received nothing.

Webber basically lost it during qualifying..

Qualifying that he just happened to lose almost a second of pace in compared to the 3rd practice round because of a sudden loss of pace on the straights....

Vettel reminds me of Lewis Hamilton in that they both have the speed and the talent to win the World Championship (as they have both done now) but they still lack somewhat in maturity and are prone to brain farts behind the wheel.

Mark Webber's season at Red Bull this year was similar to Nigel Mansell's at Ferrari in 1990. He has the speed, the talent and most importantly, the experience to win the title if the team commits to him, yet the team would rather show favour to the other driver. It will be interesting to see how events unfold next year, whether Red Bull use the "Vettel is reigning Champion so you are the #2 driver" argument towards Mark. If so he should sign elsewehere for 2012, he may be older than the boy wonders like Hamilton and Vettel, but he is good enough to be driving for a top team IMO.

Webber is a lot like Button in that regard. Both have a faster teammate, but both offer that consistency you need. So when the going gets tough they are more dependable to finish.

IMHO Both Hamilton and Button are better than Vettel and Webber. The red bull car is just awesome at the moment. I'd also say Alonso was better then them.

Watching Top gear they have a star in a reasonably fast car, a few grand prix drivers have done it, the fastest in the dry was Rubens but both Hamilton and Webber did it in the wet and Hamilton was 3 seconds quicker.

The conspiracy theories re: Red Bull favouring Vettel over Webber are still amusing long after the 2010 season has finished. Webber blew it. End of.
