Why then has Ricky Stuart and every NSW fan been at pains to tell us how NSW has just as much passion?

This would then make that all a myth, no?

No, clearly you guys have much more passion. It seems that if you are born north of a random line drawn on a map your genetics is altered to increase passion. It's scientifically proven. In fact it's such a driving force that even someone born and raised in Bowraville, once they pull on a maroon jersey, has increased passion. It's sort of like a Pavlov's dog type instinct.
Fact is, it's more about inferiority complex and chips on shoulders than passion. But you stick with the passion angle, it sounds better.

You have an alternate explanation?

NSW players are just plain inferior? Bad coaching?
Everything happens in cycles, ATM QLD are fielding a golden generation of players but I think NSW will be in a similar position in a few years. Once players like Sims, Fifita, James, Hoppa, Cordner, Idris, Loko, McKinnon, Dwyer, James Roberts, Jacob Miller, Kyle Stanley, etc mature abit more I think NSW will be a force again. If you look at that generation of players born between say 1983 and 1987, you can begin to understand why Qld have been so successful. Slater, Thurston, Smith, Inglis, Boyd, Scott, Hannant, Thaiday, Myles, Costigan, Tonga, Shillington, Cronk, , etc all born within a few years of each other, I doubt Qld will ever produce so many superstars in a 4 or 5 year period for a long, long time. Look at players born between say 88 and 92, NSW look like they have a bright future IMO.

straight up hater
forgot how TLL was ripping into QLD last year, oh Mannah two solid performances. There's Grant, Galloway, Sims, Fafita waiting in the shadows, so dunno what your talkn about!

seriously, we wouldn't pick grant, mannah, sims, or fifita if shillington was fit. TLL and galloway might get a run if one of our big 4 was down in form.
you also forgot weyman, poore, j.king, and merrin. we wouldn't use any of them, but desperate NSW has.

Maroons would kill for Blues backs and backrower depth.

Jennings
Gasnier
Lawrence
Hopoate
Hayne
Both Morris
Gordon
Stewart
Dugan
Croker
Ferguson

Watmough
Lewis
Creagh
Scott
Heighington
Stewart
Gallen
Sims
Dwyer
Bird
Laffranchi
Mateo
Hindmarsh
TLL

i doubt 80% of the backs and 50% of the backrowers would get a run in a fullstrength qld side

New South Wales have better depth than Queensland. The problem is while New South Wales have a lot of pretty good players fighting for a spot, Queensland have 1-3 great players across each position.

they have more nrl players because they have 10 teams still in nsw. but we now have more class rep players in almost every position. its about time we had 7 nrl teams and you had 7, including canberra.
we would have enough nrl quality players in the qld cup to fill another 4 teams.

If you give any weight to the junior origin results NSW should go well over the next few years?

was there a corresponding 5 years when junior qld sides dominated, i dont think so. you have had plenty of good juniors coming into the nrl but not many seem to have reached the heights of rep footy yet. some of our best players didnt get to their current level of ability until their early twenties, including thurston.

NSW have better depth in pretty much every spot. It's just that currently Qld's best are better than NSW's best in most spots. The time will come when this swings the other way.

so on your logic, nsw would always win a second XIII game

There are absurd ideas, and then there is this. Bravo.
