Marshall on that blue jersey incident

I just saw Marshall on the ABC being interviewed over the blue jersey show. He didn't care- deflected it from his responsibility to the Auckland Blue's request and to paraphrase him said our (WT) season is over, so it doesn't matter.

Well Benji it does matter, you are contracted to WT until season is over. I'd sack him now, say goodbye and save some salary money. I'd use the excuse of breach of NRL contract. I've had him. I don't care if we loose the last few games of the year at least we are rid of him and his primadonna petulance. I was watching his face at the post match conference after the Parra loss- he doesn't give a fig. BOOT HIM NOW!!!

He must be sacked full credit for Potter calling him on this. The NRL must allow salary cap exemption for Brooks as Marshall parading around is hurting the club and code.

Hope the board act. Sit him down or be branded useless.
What precedent does it set if we don't act on this breach of contract?

I find this interesting. Personally I think he shouldn't have done that video for the Blues but I don't think it is that bad. I think he basically just said the truth in this interview.

I also find it interesting that he says he gets along great with Potter.

I think Benji has nothing to be ashamed of however there are some petulant children on this board that need to grow up.

Change over time when a player changes clubs or codes is difficult I agree. There is the pressure of the upcoming new club wanting exposure and the old club not wanting their brand to be diminished. However, there are conventions around this and the main one is you cant wear a rivals colours until your current contract is finished.

Benji and his manager know that. He is not a first season rookie- he is/was a marque player of the game now going not just to a rival club but to a competing sporting code. He has done wrong and it is a big deal. It is a no-no, I believe it is a clause in the NRL player contracts, the NRL should take action even if the supine WT board don't.

Surely the NRL can fine him
I agree and have been thinking the same, thought that they were going to bring in some fine after Israel went to GWS.

Surely there are components in a contract that are managed by, directed by and enforced by the NRL?

It is nowhere near the big deal that the children on here are stating it is.

To add to that Benji said he gets along well with Potter which flies in the face of a lot of the fairy tales (because fairies wrote them) that have been posted on here.

It is completely disrespectful. Announce the signing but don't wear another teams jersey. Even sonny bill refused to do that when he signed for the roosters because it was disrespectful to the park Japanese union team he was playing for.

To each their own. Lets agree to disagree on its import.

I noticed that post Parra display as well, both the press conference as well as the after game talk with Lockyer. He looks like a juvenile delinquent trying so hard to show how little he cares. It's obvious that he has already clocked off from league and would probably be pleased if the Tigers dropped him - then he could have a bludge and play the victim. As one of the highest paid players I think Potter should keep picking him, furthermore I think Potter should publicly state that Marshall isn't putting in and challenge him to take on the line and earn his salary. Then the onus is on Benji to either perform, or implicitly admit that he doesn't care and won't make the effort anymore.

I don't get the big deal, I've seen quite a few press conferences etc in other sports where players hold up a jersey/pose with one of the club they have signed up for. I think this is just a small point for Tigers fans to go have a massive bitch and let more frustrations out really. I'd rather players didn't sign for another club more than a season out rather than worry about them wearing another jersey in an interview a few games out from the end of a season for a team in another code, it's not even a rival team.

Some people are just massive drama queens. I don't think it was a good idea but geez he sticks up for Potter in that interview and the drama queens conveniently forget to talk about that point.

Maybe not Ropati, but if it was someone like Locke or Johnson I would be

So only certain players? The only way I could see myself at being annoyed at something like this would be if the player was signing with a rival NRL club. Johnson could go and sign with Highlanders tomorrow and wear their jersey at the press conference and I wouldn't care.
