Mary pulling stats out of his backside

Like David Middleton on the Footy Show, Paul McGregor was pulling out stats from his backside.

Mary McGregor storms into radio box to have his say

Bizarre scenes at McDonald Jones Stadium on Saturday when St George Illawarra coach Paul McGregor left the coaching box to march into an adjacent radio box to make a point straight after full-time.

Jimmy Smith and McGregor’s one-time teammate Shaun Timmins were discussing the Dragons’ gritty win over Newcastle on NRL Nation Radio when the door suddenly swung open.

“He charged into our commentary box – we were still on air – and he was pointing to some of the stats,” Smith said.

“Some of the stats were just incredible. They (Saints) only had 35 per cent of the ball in the first half…it ended up at 44 per cent to 56 to the Knights at the end.

“And they made 400 tackles and the Knights made 285…that says a lot.

“The effort is what he (McGregor) would have been most pleased with and understandably so.”

We’re not sure what prompted Mary’s visit, but perhaps he wasn’t happy with the radio boys’ dissection of his team’s performance.

It's not even laughable anymore. This bloke has been in charge of the first grade team for more than four years now, and from the very first moment his prime focus has been himself. Every act is about self-preservation, self-aggrandisement and deflection of blame or criticism. This is the person in charge of leading and developing the players!

To have him charge into a commentary box to defend another scrappy (at best) performance is not inspiring, it's not impressive, it's not even funny. It is pitiful

The dumbest part about it is, If "his team" could hold the f**king ball and not give away dumb penalties then the possession stats wouldn't be so terrible week after week. Its not gritty winning without the ball. It just goes to show the deficiencies in even basic skills

Sounds like a coach under pressure....maybe the 3 year extension is not a fait accompli

Jeez, have we really been putting up with this Gimp for four years? Guess I lost track of the pathetic display over the years.

You’d think finally getting the team he wants may result in a good crack at the premiership, not just the whipping boys of the final series.

Yeh funny. My question..can you identify and address those damming stats for the past 15 weeks..and why do they keep happening. Who is the coach again...?.

Exactly, gimps like Crawley come up with "the coach doesn't drop the ball , give away penalties and miss tackles mantra but forgets the overall responsibility of a coach . He has to stop the players from doing this and if they don't they should be dropped. Or a normal coach would do that !
