Mary pulling stats out of his backside

I had to read the article twice before posting to be sure it was real..

Was he listening to the broadcast during the game ? Keeping a tab on "radio" stats ? Charging into their commentary box ? Oh dear Mary. Lost the plot big time.

Timmo should have told Mary, " here's 2 stats :- 40-4 and 38-0."

He’s sticking up for only one person, himself. Perhaps if the team hadn’t capitulated in 3 of the last 4 years, being aggrieved against negative commentary would be justified. A bit hard to ‘shirt front’ commentators for simply speaking the truth.

Anyway, what’s he whinging about. He been absolutely kissed on the d*ck when it comes to very little criticism of his coaching in the wider media. Not once has he been questioned about, for example, poor bench use despite hiding behind fatigue as an excuse.

Does he think they will get more possession against the Bronco's in Suncorp? He will be lucky to get close to 40% possession. And when they do they will go for the 2 even if they are 20 behind.

Did he mention the stats - tried off opposition errors?... and whether they count more than tried off kicks?

Like David Middleton on the Footy Show, Paul McGregor was pulling out stats from his backside.

Mary McGregor storms into radio box to have his say

Bizarre scenes at McDonald Jones Stadium on Saturday when St George Illawarra coach Paul McGregor left the coaching box to march into an adjacent radio box to make a point straight after full-time.

Jimmy Smith and McGregor’s one-time teammate Shaun Timmins were discussing the Dragons’ gritty win over Newcastle on NRL Nation Radio when the door suddenly swung open.

“He charged into our commentary box – we were still on air – and he was pointing to some of the stats,” Smith said.

“Some of the stats were just incredible. They (Saints) only had 35 per cent of the ball in the first half…it ended up at 44 per cent to 56 to the Knights at the end.

“And they made 400 tackles and the Knights made 285…that says a lot.

“The effort is what he (McGregor) would have been most pleased with and understandably so.”

We’re not sure what prompted Mary’s visit, but perhaps he wasn’t happy with the radio boys’ dissection of his team’s performance.

That link does not work. Can’t find the story on their website or their Facebook page.

A decent team would have put 30 or more on us based on those stats. So was Mary proud that we won because the knights performance was even more rubbish than the dragons??

Same thing happened with the Tigers.
They completed at 60% and self destructed.
When you draw a line through Parramatta's form since they flogged us, you have to scratch your head.
At least the Dogs had some form on the board.

Yep, or he’s just sticking up for his players and sick of all the negative shit before the finals.
Wake up.
He is the cause of all the negative shit

Stop blaming the supporters.

The guys in the box should have called the cops, said someone was in their box threatening them, and hopefully have shot the dick head.

You are spot on. If I hear 1 more commentator say how "he obviously can coach" referring to his ability to start the year well, "I like Mary as a coach and he has done a pretty good job"...referring to I dont know what?. "They have been in The Top 4 all year except for the past few weeks" and "Dragons supporters can be so fickle when they have a few losses and this calling for his head is ridiculous" Andrew Webster, Ryan Girdler (ex mate) and Michael Ennis are most recent ones that come to mind.
Every interview he does whether it be FOX or Radio are staged to talk about being positive, deflect blame to Origin / injury and what they could do with some brilliant individuals and have done.(when winning few in a row).and obviously the real hard core questions...remain unanswered.
