Storm have picked a strange bench:

Wishart (hooker)
Iremeia (winger)
Loiero (second row)
Moeroa (lock/prop)

Starting props in Welch and NAS are obviously quality, however the 13 in Max King is pretty average.

If we can hold them for the first 25 mins or so our bench may give us more impact then theirs

The first three games have shown that whoever completes their sets better will win in these early games. If we can complete at 80% I genuinely think we’re a shot.

Like your optimism Vic. Actually still being in the game with 10mins to go would be an awesome achievement. Unfortunately I see us putting in a brave effort but losing by 20.
I sincerely hope I am very wrong.

Oh i dont think we'll win. Storm by 14-20 is my tip too. I do however think if we complete at 90% and we're within 6 by the time their starting props take a break we're in it.

The storm have always got a massive lift from their bench. Over the last 2 years the likes of Tino, NAS, B Smith, Kamikamika, Hynes etc have picked up exactly where Bromwich, Welch and Finnucane left off. The bench they have tonight will give them nothing like that.

Except for the fact Vic that bellyache turns the reserve graders or the there about s into pretty good 1st graders.
They do what they are suppose to do and do it to bellyaches standards.

As Ned stated though, I like your optimism.

Almost time to bend over
1986.
It's SO long ago that I can't even remember if we had PS1, X-Box or Atari 2600.
Actually, I think it might have been the ole black and white Pong table tennis.
Ahhh . . . . those dark, distant recesses of the mind bring back a long, long lost joy.
And Parra's last premiership.

Stop living in the past

I look to the future and 2022 is the year of the Eels and the 12th year of no finals footy for the tigers . l think the first iPhone just came out last time tigers made the finals

Were mob phones invented, the last time the Eels won the comp? So what’s your point?

I think we have a great young attacking pack, but our defence will largely be like most of last year, Nofoaluma coming up and in at 1000 miles an hour and watching the ball fly to the bloke he was supposed to be marking. He should take a look at that Newcastle wingers game today, superb defensively.

if it not Nofo it will be someone having a nap in the middle of the park on melbournes side of halfway watching someone run past and leaving poor old Daine Laurie in no man’s land. I hope it’s not the same old story but…..

Terrible defence for Melbournes first try, Gildart ordinary rushed up, left Maumolo with no option but to come in. Rubbish

Half Time: Leilus going off would have been the only way Roberts would get the ball.. Roberts had to run to the left side of field and go blind by himself to be able to have a run…a shame because he’s looking fkn electric

Madge didn’t designate a captain to deal with the ref so there’s 5 captains going at the ref when we verbally challenge.. The ref had to choose Brooks to be that guy..amateurish …but otherwise okay my prediction was a bit off..

Another long long year. The attack showed some good signs, but the defence is abominable. What are they gonna do about their on line defence? It is shocking. The try of Coates was a lucky one, the play that led to the break had Leilua taken out by the player playing the ball and opened up the play for Hughes. It’s just the same old shit, otherwise, shit defence, shit goal kicking, can’t play the full 80, against a reserve grade side with 2 reserves. Rubbish.
I’m thinking spoon, they would’ve been up for that game, they were 10 points up and threw it away, if we don’t put in a couple of wins in the next couple of rounds spoon is the likely outcome. We have the softest draw we’ve had in years if we don’t win 3 out of our next 5 it’s goodby Madge in my eyes. He’s had three years to get a half decent squad together

Pretty depressing. We can't tough it out and we don't have the class players to stand up and win the game.

Positives:- Tuilagi, Simpkin, Peachey, Big Ken, Brooks & Gildart. Musgrove wasn't bad apart from poor defence against Hughes.
Poor performances:- Laurie, Hastings. We need more from our spine players and these didn't do enough. Laurie also made some mistakes.

I thought Hastings was alright, Brooks tried hard but it was frustrating when the tigers went right and Brooks got caught with the ball, probably happened half a dozen times. Gildart is ordinary, only that he is playing for the tigers that sees him in first grade needs half a dozen NRL games
Under his belt before I write him off though. Maumolo was pretty good. Simpkin was ok, he was a bit slow I thought seemed to take a while to actually pick the ball up and let it go, Melbourne got in our face because of it. I was a bit perplexed by the use of our replacements tonight, I’ll have to watch the game again but I think Seyfarth only got 15 minutes and Garner 8, I could be wrong about that, this would help to explain why our defence went to shit in the last 30 mins.

Seyfarth and Garner got no time. We need more from Hastings. I thought Gildart showed some spark.

You are right on Simpkin. He provided some slow service at times and he never got away from dummy half. I thought it was his best game so far. They should have played that kid from the trials off the bench.

We didn't look too bad against a team that had 5 debutants and 2 players lost during the game through injury.
We are in for a flogging next week.
Hastings will leave at the end of his contract. He won't put up with mediocrity.
