I completely agree with this and the inconsistencies with the reffing on it. Whenever there is a penalty blown after this type of play I have to look for the ref to see which way it's going.
Ditto.
I admit to not paying attention as to whether he was obstructed getting to his feet.
Regardless, he needed to try to get to his feet to play the ball. If he had tried it would have been obvious.

So it was the senior review official who was on the take.
The senior review official needs to go back to his retirement home.

"I don't think it was a knock on, it looks loose but I still had my hands on the ball anyway, so I don't know what they're talking about," Uate said.

Poor Aku....

He still unaware of the rules.

Lol.

Typical, he does the work to get into a try scoring position and then..... drops it.

So, so Uate.

Review official was Jared Maxwell.

Not only did he inform Klein that it was a try this is also against the referee review policy.

So he broke the rules in order to get a try awarded. Sounds completely and utterly dodgy to me. But it's the knights so who cares.

Your last sentence echos the NRL's thoughts on everything regarding our club.

Yeah, if you were going to match fix a game it would be a knights game for sure, we are a low profile team that no one gives a f**k about. Most likely this will get swept under the carpet.

If it was the broncos would be a whole different story.

I'm speechless about this.

Just another point of laughter about all that is wrong with this game and the current administration.

As a former Manly coach once said, "There needs to be an investigation.'

What I suspect has happened, and may or may not come out further I guess, is that the NRL has been having the video ref make snap decisions and then telling the onfield refs on the fly without referral in order to reduce the number of tries that get referred to the video ref, as it's always a point of contention with commentators and fans. In this case, the video ref has stuffed up sublime and clearly not looked at the right angles when making the call down - and then Klein has taken the word of the bloke in his earpiece over the rookie touch judge.

Would the video ref and onfield ref have had such negligence if they were watching the Storm, Brisbane or Manly defend their line against us? I somewhat doubt it... but I feel it's just simple negligence. The problem here is that our refereeing teams should be held to higher standards of professionalism.

If it was the Roosters, Storm, Souths or the Bulldogs there'd be 'Code In Crisis' headlines for weeks, panel discussions on The Footy Show about it, stories on 60 Minutes and a Police Investigation into match-fixing. If it was the Broncos, Super League 2.0 would be all ready to kick off for 2018...

I haven't watched the game in full but had a look at the highlights this-morning. Seemed like a pretty low quality game from both sides, looks like the boys fought pretty hard though which is pleasing to see, the stats tell the same story as usual though, we were on the wrong end of a lot of the important stats.

That Uate try decision was absolutely appalling, I can't believe that was awarded with out even considering going to the video ref, especially considering how many clear cut tries are sent up each week for extensive examination.

If we get beaten fare and square I can cop that, and there have been plenty of times this season where we've been beaten by a better team, but there's also been some games where we've been at least on par with our opponents despite the overwhelming odds stacked against us and we're getting dudded time and time again by 50/50's and in this case the 100% ones that should be in our favour.

Absolutely unbelievable, can anyone remember something this blatantly wrong happening against the Broncos, Roosters, Storm etc? I'm wracking my brain and I just can't think of any moment where this has happened.

What? Souths were robbed against Brisbane it went on for a week and then nobody spoke a word about it. There was nothing done at all. Newcastle aren't the only side that get f**ked over by refs.

Canberra were also robbed the week before by the referees because there's always going to be human error in the game. There wasn't anything done about that?!

Referees make mistakes and not sending it up to the bunker was a massive mistake. Everybody knows you guys were robbed of the 2 points but you guys actually kept up with manly the whole game. The fact that you guys didn't get the 2 points isn't the be all and end all. You literally kept up with a top 4 side the entire game and deserved to win it. Just like Souths, Newcastle put in inconsistent performances week in week out. If both of our teams were consistent each week then it wouldn't be as big of a problem as it seems.

Maybe there should be a police investigation. It defies logic that someone could be as dumb ad Maxwell for calling it without reviewing it against policy and when the touchy called for a review.
Then there's the dumbness of the ref listening to Maxwell when he should know procedure and policy.

We need to focus on some leg strength for the fwds in the off season.
Our guys have upper body strength but can't get the drive that other teams are getting on us.
We could play more to our strengths and try around the edges but our flat play and straight hits tewuore leg drive.
Buys might help but the rest of the pack needs that drive too.

Agree 100% and coach said as much in press conference.

Rare insight from a souths fan.

Anyone know a site where you can find stats for 'post contact metres'? It would be interesting to see with of our forwards make the most. Was watching Josh King closely yesterday, and in every single run he got dragged backwards. Sione has good leg drive and so the Saifitis. The rest of the pack are marshmallows.
