Me too. Smith could find a way to get something out of a bits and pieces team. Brown hasn't showed that ability yet.
I'm still a Brown supporter to be honest. But I wish he had showed a little more ambition maybe in how he sets us up to show the opposition something different.
It leads me to wonder what the Walker Bros would have done with the same squad. It might have been a disaster. I would just love to have a crystal ball and find out one way or the other if some unconventional thinking could work with a team that individually can't compete with other sides.
Walker bros might have been a fun ride, lol. Brown has done a lot of what needed to be done. It was obvious that our squad needed to have the decks cleared, but anyone can walk around sacking bludgers (except Rick Stone). Personally, I would have liked to have seen players replaced a bit more readily when they were discarded. This whole clear the decks first, run last for however long, then worry about who we're recruiting doesn't sit will with me either, and I don't feel like it's panned out well thus far. We are currently in a position where we're praying for a favourable outcome of the salary cap negotiations. I wish our fate were a little more in our own hands than that. Maybe it was unavoidable, but I really don't feel so.
I've said it a couple of times, but to be honest I couldn't even really tell you what style Brown coaches. At this stage in the game, that doesn't sit massively well with me. His recruitment has been shit to this point. Ponga was a get, no doubt... but you can't rest your hat on one 18 year old gun forever - we need a lot more.
